It's also those kind of plays that separate Portis' shoulder from the rest of Portis.

Still, I love it - he's my favorite player on the field simply for the stuff he does when he doesn't have the ball. Hardest working guy out there even if he does sit out preseason.

You are right that is why I love it when Portis goes all out, the thought of "what could happen", never enters his mind. All I am saying from a fans POV, is that Portis did hurt his shoulder last year and being a fan of him, I dont want to see him on our sidelines in regular cloths. I think he is the best back we have and one of the best most complete all around backs in the league. KEEP LAYIN' THE WOOD PORTIS!!!!

But would you prefer a player who shys away from tackles, or one who is agreesive, passionate, and gives his all on the field?

I am just sick of people finding ways to hate on Portis. Not saying that you are, but it seems like some fans on this board have just become tools to the media and potential speculations. Now that you have your mindset about Portis, you all put any of his actions, quotes, etc into that frame without properly analyzing the situation. There is a psychology term for this problem in human nature, but people just need to look at the situation from a pure game and player aspect.

That, and not coughing up the ball.

I don't have a problem with Portis getting injured from playing balls to the wall, I do however have a problem with him getting injured like McNabb did for instance.
My biggest concern with the hit was that he came in with his shoulder, and knowing that he missed most of last season due to his broke hand and shoulder, well that kinda scared me...
I agree, loved the effort but I thought it was a very stupid play on his part, could have cost him the season

as long as he doesn't get hurt celebrating im okay...

Does anyone remember the lick he put on Al Wilson last year? He took Wilson off his feet in pass protection when Al was blitzing up the middle untouched...
The Phins sideline was yelling for Roth to look out... Portis had him lined up from 15 yards away. If Roth didn't duck at the last second then that could have been the hit of the year. Plays like that fire up the team and take some of the wind out of the opponent. I love Portis for that type of effort and mean streak
Thoose Phins players must yell real loud because watching that play on NFL replay that play happened on the skins side of the ball and with all of the crowd noise he must have good hearing.

It was good to see Portis on Sunday. He looked really fresh and those types of blocks do seperate him from Betts. I agree. Thought maybe he should have been given like 21-23 carries rather than 17. Betts didn't seem to have the same pop that game.

I agree Portis looked really fresh and he looked like he was ready to go. Betts had a couple really nice runs, but he didn't seem to have it quite like last year. I'm sure we will see the Betts from last year return in the next couple weeks.

it's definitely better to split the carries in my opinion. i guess that may take away from a guy who's on fire. but it will pay off late in the season.

Are you sure?... I'm going to go back and look at the tape. I could have overlooked that as I was jumping around and tackling my wife
