Re: Halfway Through: What Record Gets Us Into The Playoffs?
10-11 wins, especially with the likes of Green Bay and Detroit doing as well as they are this year, and the Cowboys and Giants. If the Skins had beaten Green Bay, that would have been huge.

Re: Halfway Through: What Record Gets Us Into The Playoffs?
When analyzing the schedule during the final 8 weeks, it is important to remember the annual collapse of the Cowboys and Giants, and recognize Joe Gibbs record after Nov. 1st. While there are many Gibbs haters during his second stint, he has shown the ability to rally the troops during crunch time. The Redskins should improve down the stretch, due to Gibbs influence and the return of Thomas in December. Conversely, the Cowboys and Giants should slowly decline.

Re: Halfway Through: What Record Gets Us Into The Playoffs?
anyone got the stats on NFC vs. AFC record for the year? I think the NFC is doing alot better than in years past...
we beat an afc team on the road, and I think in our playoff year, all of the afc teams we played wound up beating us... Minnesota and Detroint both beat afc teams last weekend, and I think green bay has beaten 2... |
Re: Halfway Through: What Record Gets Us Into The Playoffs?
I think 9 will do it, if the 9 are against division opponents that matter--so we've got it in hand to get in with 9, I think, but we've got to step it up--the schedule looks tough to me, given our play of late, and with our injuries.

Oh, and welcome to the board, BugelDisciple! Like the name.
And, am I mistaken, or do we have a Sportscurmudgeon sighting in this thread! Welcome back, SC! |

wow... thats interesting halfway through the season...
|
Re: Halfway Through: What Record Gets Us Into The Playoffs?
if that trend keeps up we're going to have to win at least 11 games mathematically to get in...
we won't be as weak a conference as in the past... and I dont think 10 will do it unless it goes down to several tie breakers... |

There is a stat in another post about Gibbs 2.0 second half of the season record and its noting to brag about. The fact of the matter is that Gibbs 2.0 has not shown the ability to rally the troops much beyond a .500 record. I look for the Skins to go 4-4 in the final 8 and end up with 9 wins. IMO that puts them in tie breaker hell so who knows what will happen. |
Re: Halfway Through: What Record Gets Us Into The Playoffs?
got to hope that det falls apart and tampa does too.

Re: Halfway Through: What Record Gets Us Into The Playoffs?
I would think we HAVE to get at least 10 wins to make it in.
For the record I believe we will get to 10-6, and get in with a wildcard. |
Re: Halfway Through: What Record Gets Us Into The Playoffs?
i hope your right would love to make the playoffs again. Then all bets are off.

Re: Halfway Through: What Record Gets Us Into The Playoffs?
There is no way we're going to make the playoffs this year. And even if we do, we're going to get knocked out in the first round. Look at our remainning schedule.
Philly - I predict a win here. @ Dallas - Loss, they're just a better team then we are. @ Tampa Bay - Could go either way. Buffalo - This is going to be a tough game in win. Could go either way. Chicago - Win @ Giants - Loss, we always play like crap in NY. @ Minnesota - Could go either way, let's hope Peterson doesn't go off. Dallas - Loss, once again, they're just a better team than we are this year. There's only 2 other games this year, Philly and Chicago, that we have a very good chance of winning. All the other games are going to be tough wins. And judging by the way we've played this season, unless they start going for the kill, we're going to lose a good amount of those games. |
Re: Halfway Through: What Record Gets Us Into The Playoffs?
I gotta be honest here, I see us going no better than 4-4 the rest of the way through unless we go through a dramatic transformation on offense. 9-7 and just miss the playoffs...
