Re: I Kinda Wish The Season Was Over
To be cliche- This too shall pass, time heals all wounds.
A week ago today I was a wreck. It had been just one day after healing Sean had passed, and I was breaking down into tears like once every hour. I'll always, ALWAYS miss that guy. But seeing the funeral, reading the articles and player interviews, going to work every day, focusing on normal life stuff, it hasn't weighed on me as much the past few days. Sean's death is an awful thing, but I can compartmentalize. I don't want the season to be over. I want to slowly return to normalcy, just like the Skins. If we can get a win under our belt tomorrow it will help the healing a lot I think. My freshman year of college was a nightmare. Just two weeks after classes started, one of my best friends from high school was killed by a drunk driver. Two months later my grandma died just 4 weeks after being diagnosed with cancer. And then right after Christmas that same year, one of my childhood friends with whom I played pop warner and little league, decided it would be a good idea to hang himself. Prior to those 4 months I had never dealt with death. And suddenly it was right in my face, 3 times in 120 days. It was so, so hard to cope with all that. I thought I would never recover. But again, to be cliche, that which didn't kill me made me stronger. Since that time I've helped a bunch of friends through times of loss. While I'm no expert, I know the pain of Sean's passing will fade, but his memory will live on strongly. Now let's go Bear hunting dammit!!! |

Re: I Kinda Wish The Season Was Over
12th I feel the same way. I was at the bills game and just didnt have that same intensity watching the game. I want the skins to win out. but....if they lose every game on out I wont be pissed off. This tragedy has me looking at my wife with more appreciation. And I have dealt with death of a close friend twice. I was drained in the last week to have my favorite player die and my favorite rapper die within 2 weeks of each other. But with all that said .....DONT KICK TO DEVIN HESTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Big Pimp C fan are you? I just want the team to finish strong just for them to be able to feel good about something as they head into the offseason. Especially Jason Campbell. |

Hester fumbles more frequently than any punt returner in NFL history, so you want him to touch the football. You just don't want him to touch it in the middle of the field where you have the entire field to defend. You want to cut the field in half and attack him with your best special teamers. |
Re: I Kinda Wish The Season Was Over
i disagree. if you have about a 50-50 chance of Hester fumbling, you probably have a bout a 50-50 chance of him taking it back. he definitely is the bears best offense. i would rather see that lousy Grossman try to beat our defense. that and with the way the giants ran all over the bears d, if we don't see a healthy dose of portis this week, lets all get together and run Al Saunders out of d.c.

This is when I and other fans know our Team can rally and win some games to finish the season in the black and possibe play offs. Ya'll get some Blue and Silver and hang with sandtrapjack. I bet he LOVES!!!!!!!! this thread ~shakes head I lhope it's past Sammy Baugh's bed time and he don't read this sad thread Hail Skins mike[/QUOTE] Mike, I think you're confusing the issue here. We're talking about the human aspect - of losing another human being and how that's affected us. You're talking about beating the Chicago Bears. It's a suttle distinction. |

Re: I Kinda Wish The Season Was Over
SBF, I'm not asking the guys to mail it in by any means. What would be more redeeming than for these guys to back into the playoffs and surprise a couple of teams? Save the Cowboys and the Packers, I think we're still capable of competing with everyone in the NFC.
It's just tough that's all. |
Re: I Kinda Wish The Season Was Over
It is tough.
I don't really know why, but the ST murder has affected me more than I would have imagined. As some others have already stated, it makes no sense since I did not know him. THAT having been said, I agree with SBF (in principle), there is much............"don't want to go on with the rest of season" type of thing. And SBF is correct, as ST would be about kickin' the Bears ass, and everybody else's ass the rest of the season. From what we have seen on the field, and people have said that knew him, he was the ULTIMATE competitor. I hope the rest of the organization can model his attitude. |
Re: I Kinda Wish The Season Was Over
I see where yall are coming from when you say you're ready for the season to be over.
I'm so addicted to the games that I don't want the season to ever end. Love basketball but something feels off come february. If I knew the rest of the season would be like the bills game I would definitely wish it over. On the other hand, like many here I'm hoping that this team feeds off raw emotion & unites itself & plays w/passion & honor to win the rest of the games. That's what keeps me watching. Sadly, last sunday was too much of a familiar reality coupled w/tragedy surrounding it. Our team played no differently, though you can hardly blame them given what they've been through. funerals are to give the living closure. Let's hope that the team got that closure & can now truly play for Sean as they accept the loss. When you experience a loss you eventually have to return to your job & life's duties, so it is for these guys who can heal themselves in part by playing football & especially by winning. |
Re: I Kinda Wish The Season Was Over
the way i see it after tonights game we have 3 games left in our season so we are on the short roads.
football is what keeps us going... |
Re: I Kinda Wish The Season Was Over
I know this may sound a little cliche', but if you care at all about Sean Taylor or give a damn about his legacy, this type of thought wouldn't even enter your mind. Win or Lose, Sean played with passion and intensity. Did you ever see him take off a play? When the chips were down last year and our Defense was abysmal, he elevated his play to make the pro bowl with his best season to date. He never once complained about how the season was a wash or that he needed a pass rush to relieve the pressure off of the secondary. This is the type of person who never used excuses or hid behind circumstances. He just bashed some heads on every play. In that spirit I hope that we play every game like we have something at stake (even if there isn't).
The show MUST go on! Also practically, if we drop out of playoff contention and become lackadaisical in the end, we are going to be screwed for next year. Typically teams that have good seasons after a non-playoff year, finish out their previous losing season strong. The players need that kind of an emotional boost in order to motivate them to get better in the offseason. The media tends to be less critical of a team that showed signs of life at the end of the season and I don't care what they say, the players DEFINITELY read the papers and watch TV in the offseason. Plus, Win, Lose or Draw, I love watching Redskins play. |
Re: I Kinda Wish The Season Was Over
In a way, I hear what you're saying 12thMan. There's something kind of anticlimactic about this season now. I'm still looking forward to them playing the last four games and seeing how they progress, but overall I'm just not in the mood for sports. I've been trying to avoid watching any sports this week (until tonight's game)...which you can imagine is pretty close to impossible for me.
Still holding onto the hope we actually make the playoffs though. Until we get eliminated officially, I'll still believe |
