I was surprised Yoder wasn't in there more to block. Cooley was absolutely misused/abused early in that Seahawk's game by being made to stay back and help block
Plus he is not a very good blocker. |
Re: Green Bay can run on Seattle but we couldn't!!
I think the problem is a lot of people forgot that Heyer was an undrafted rookie playing an away playoff game lined up against one of the DEs in the league. He got outplayed, no question. But we need to temper our expectations of him.
Thank you. I like Heyer, but it was a little unrealistic for people to start talking about him replacing Jansen. |
Re: Green Bay can run on Seattle but we couldn't!!
The fact that GB was able to run on Seattle has nothing to do with the fact we could not. The weather was obviously a huge factor in slowing down Seattle's D. Their strength is speed and getting after the passer, and the weather totally neutralized them.
This game has made me sick to my stomach. We could not give Portis no room to run nor protect Collins and Green Bay is making it look easy. We have to really work on our o-line first and foremost. Ryan Grant is making Seatte's run defense seem like the worst in the league.
It's called home field advantage. |
Re: Green Bay can run on Seattle but we couldn't!!
Weather's got a lot to do with it also.
This is true, the Seahawks D are not "mudders." The snow & field conditions were a real handicap for the style of D we play and the smaller guys we have. If the field was clear (or if the game was at Qwest) you would not have seen a blowout and 200+ yards from Grant. Not saying we would have won for sure, but the weather was a big problem. |

Yes, this is very accurate. |
Re: Green Bay can run on Seattle but we couldn't!!
If you compare how we played against Seattle and how GB did, I think one of the most worrying aspects of this game was that if you take away the two early scores that came from GB turn overs this has to be one of the most one sided p/off games I can remember. I’m sure the weather played a part but I think it really emphasizes how much we have to improve the O Line and maybe at WR to be even close next year
he's been the 2nd best RB since he became the starter this year only behind LT so he actually is a really good Running back
Yea, but who knew Ryan Grant when he got drafted and played in his first game? I bet u don't know..not to start anything did he even get drafted? |

did he even get drafted?
No he didn't get drafted I didn't even know him untill his first start with the Packers. He was 3rd string RB, but what I was trying to say is it's not like he's some crappy running back just getting lucky against the Seahawks he's put up amazing #'s for only starting half the year. Like a lot of people are pointing out here if CP had a better O-line I'm sure he would have had a better game and the weather was a BIG help for the Packers but Ryan Grant has been playing extremely well he's been having big runs in almost every game with or without the snow.... so what I was trying to say is he is pretty much a nobody but he's REALLY REALLY good for a non drafted RB in his first year... oh yeah he's averaged 145 yards on the ground in 8 starts and has 1130 yards since week 8 he's been doing a good job against a lot of teams not just the Seahawks... |
Re: Green Bay can run on Seattle but we couldn't!!
My general feeling is that Seattle is an average team at best.
So I have to reiterate what only a few have said, the Seattle crowd noise is over the top. For example, Collins in the shotgun, signals for the ball. He doesn’t get it. He starts to scream at Casey trying to show he ready for the ball. Eventually he hikes the ball only after Collins walks away in disgust because the play clock expired. The D had an extra step on our O line, most of the game. Why else do you think they blew through, even on our healthy strong side? Seattle had at least four different guyz getting through. Our guys were completely nervous and frustrated, especially the rookie. There’s a rumor on my side of the world, that Paul Allen built that stadium to funnel the noise back down on the field. There seems to be some validity with that theory as Mike Sellers was complaining about them feeding crowd noise through the speakers. The NFL has already investigated and found nothing. Another investigation on the stadium but targeting stadium construction would be a good idea. Paul Allen has the resources and personel to design such a stadium. Heck, hes got a whole corporation of talent and state of the art equipment at his disposal to figure out how to manipulate human sound waves. When is it to far, for attaining home team advantage? This may have turned into a whine fest, but screw it. I dont care. We had the right team, the right coaches and the momentum damn it. This was our year and with how poorly Seattle played GB makes it more painful to think if any of this is true. :tongue |
Re: Green Bay can run on Seattle but we couldn't!!
I hate to say it, yes the o-line wasn't great, but also the noise did have to do something with it. The line was getting off the snap late allowing the rushers make great jumps and get into the backfield. I hate to admit that their twelfth man had something to do with their win, but they were a factor.

Re: Green Bay can run on Seattle but we couldn't!!
yeah the Hog Mollies on the front line blocking makes it a lil easier also

Re: Green Bay can run on Seattle but we couldn't!!
While I was definitely whining, :) I do believe with current technology, it will eventually go too far in the NFL. Have we reached that point? Maybe. It would be in the best interest for the NFL to keep an eye on it.
Using the noise level in Seattle as an example. If it is true and Seattle has a stadium specially designed for noise, crowd noise so loud that it virtually shuts down a opposing teams offense. Don’t you think this takes away from the game? You want to tell me that you would prefer to watch as other team start to design noise advantage stadiums to the point were the two teams normally fight it out and the best or strongest team wins is not the deciding factor, but who is the loudest? Again, I have search the internet for any article that would support the "rumor" that Seattle has a specially made stadium and found nothing. All I have is two BG playoff losses and hearsay. To add more hearsay, Sellers stated the he believed noise was being pumped. Did he pipe up because when the Skins were in the Redzone, Sellers single handedly screwed up and burned a possible valuable timeout because he didn’t shift? Was this because he had his head up his rearend or because he couldn’t hear the QB who was 6 feet away? All I have left to say is thank god we had our defense to make an otherwise frustrating game into something I can rant about 2 weeks later. :laughing- |
