Re: I hate to be the hater, but Eli sucked
eli didn't suck, though he wasn't amazing. tuck should have gotten that mvp though (6 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 FF, lots of pressures).

Re: I hate to be the hater, but Eli sucked
I just can't believe I live in a world where Eli is a Superbowl Champion
|
Re: I hate to be the hater, but Eli sucked
If not Eli, who else would you have given it to? He didn't have the greatest performance but I think that play when he broke out of the sack and heaved it downfield is going to be one of the most memorable in SB history and possibly also his career.
I'm just happy to have won $300 bucks last nite (3rd Q and final game, blocks) and most importantly having Monk and Green in together! |
Re: I hate to be the hater, but Eli sucked
This is the stupidest thread ever created...I bleed burgundy and gold...... congrats G-Men...Pierce said it best "We play in the hard hitting NFC East, we were ready for this"
Dumbas%^& thread...... Good job Eli! |
Eli played a good to great game. Factor in all of those drops plus his escape from that sack to make the long pass to Tyree- great game, deserved the MVP, case closed.
I agree. 2 4th quarter TD passes to beat the Pats...that alone is worthy, but yes, he played great all night, from that first 10-minute drive to the last play. |
Re: I hate to be the hater, but Eli sucked
Eli definitely didn't suck. This thread sounds like sour grapes.
He wasn't great and yeah that prayer to Tyree was lucky, but hey shit happens. But overall he got it done. |
Re: I hate to be the hater, but Eli sucked
Bottom line Eli did enough to manage the game and not throw it away and has a nice ring to show for it, HOW WOULD anyone call that he sucks? The Defense played GREAT! What a game, I'm glad the underdog NFC giants got it done!
Honestly thought it was going to go to someone on the D-line. Not sure off the top of my head, but they had 5 sacks I think and Brady was on his ass A LOT.
My Brother in-law is a G's fan and he thought Manning was the MVP but myself I thought it should have been Justin Tuck. The guy was all over Brady the entire game. The D-line set the tone and won this game for the Giants. Makes me kind of mad cuz the Skin's could have drafted Tuck a couple of years ago. The guy is a beast. |
Re: I hate to be the hater, but Eli sucked
Yeah he was down 4 and drove for a winning td pass to beat the 18-0 pats but he wasn't that good.

Re: I hate to be the hater, but Eli sucked
It kinda pissed me off that Manning got the MVP, I thought that he was the luckiest sob EVER for not losing that game. It seemed to me that on every throw he made in the 4th quarter, (except for one or two) he seemed to lean back, close his eyes throw the ball and pray that his reciever would catch it, and the overthow of Burress almost lost the game. I will give him props for fighting though, he got out of a few sacks where he should have been eating dirt. Even though I thought he should have thrown the ball away instead of scramble, I'm not going to complain about that point too much.
I won't bother wasting time reading other responses to your initial post, but this has to be one of the more ignorant threads that I've seen since joining this forum. Eli led not one, but TWO 80-plus yard, 4th quarter drives against a team for the ages, and perhaps the best defensive game planner ever in Belichick. Are you saying that the great throw to Boss was luck? Tyree made a sick play on the ball that Eli threw to save the winning drive, but Eli made one of the greater escapes in Super Bowl history to make that play possible. If Brady makes those two plays to save the Pats, then we're all saying that he's greater than Montana, so let's give Eli a little credit here.

I agree - should have been Tuck or Umenyiora (yes, I had to look up the spelling on that one). |

We must have watched different games. |
Re: I hate to be the hater, but Eli sucked
No one can give Eli too much credit for the last TD toss. I would have stood a better chance of getting on a plane, flying to Arizona, suiting up, and making a play than the Patriots DBs on that one (they were nowhere near Burress -- how can that guy have gotten so open?).
Eli is serviceable. He threw up a bunch of jump balls, many off his back foot and under pressure, and had every break go his way. In my mind, he will always be a whiny bitch for having his daddy come rescue him from the evil clutches of the San Diego Charges when he was drafted. It's too bad that the Giants won. SB losers tend to be doormats the following year, and I would like to have seen that happen. |
