Re: Gregg Williams to the Cowboys?
980 is reporting today that he signed with Jax as DC/Assistant Head Coach. Some Jax radio station is reporting it also.
JLC reporting the same, said deal should be done by dinner time. |

Jacksonville, thought that was pretty clear. |
Re: Gregg's talking to the Cowboys
I would tend to agree. But if that were true, why make the trip and interview at all? Why not just tell your agent to respectfully decline the invitation?
Besides, isn't Williams resume' in the 4-3? And Dallas runs the 3-4. .
Exactly, and on top of that you can't just switch from the 3-4 to the 4-3. Though now that I look at it, seems like the Cowboys could easily switch back to the 4-3. DE's Greg Elis and DeMarcus Ware DT - Chris Cantry and Marcus Spears LB's - Bradie James, Akin Ayodele, and Bobby Carpenter Of course the secondary would remain intact, but damn, this isn't looking very good. |
Re: Gregg Williams to the Cowboys?
How anybody could think that Gregg Williams would actually take a position coach job is beyond me.

Re: Gregg Williams to the Cowboys?
I'm curious. Do you really think he owes any loyalty to the team that fired him?
No, but if he had chosen to go to Dallas then he would be going to a team that I hate, so I'd be done with him. I never said that he owe's the team not to go to Dallas, but he'd be going there. I would still respect his coaching abilities as well as what he did here but he would be going to Dallas. Plain and simple. Do I owe him any loyalty if he goes to the enemy of my favorite team ? No. |

Why do you think Parcells took the job in Miami when he was offered the same position in Atlanta? Because he got spurned by the Patriots, and he is garanteed to face them twice a year.
Actually, Parcells wasn't spurned by the Pats. He took the job with the Jets for more $$$ and then took Curtis Martin away from the Pats to play for him and the Jets. I suspect that Parcells turned down the job with the Falcons because the Falcons are in worse shape from a rebuilding standpoint than the Dolphins are. |
Re: Gregg Williams to the Cowboys?
I believe the NFL rule is that there can be compensation for taking a head coach but there is NO compensation for coordinators or position coaches.
I don't know what the rule for GMs/personel directors might be. |

I saw that. Thank goodness. Jax is a much better fit for his style, and Gregg has spent most of his coaching career in the AFC anyway. I wanted to puke when I heard that Jerry Jones had more than one "positive" meeting w/ Gregg's agent during Super Bowl weekend. |
Re: Gregg Williams to the Cowboys?
but wasnt he released ? so then wouldnt require any compensation and a lateral move at that..

With the Jags news, I think we can lock this
