Until he holds a PC and publically announces his retirement, like several times before he still could change his mind. It could be that he's serious this time, and if he is, he's certainly had a great ride.

yeah what if he bust a Seau and bounce to another team..little far thinking but won't hold it against him..And the Moss thing did play a big part.

He can't as long as he's under contract with Green Bay.

okay if not Seau maybe he'll bust a Strahan..i don't think he'll really call it quits..i think he's just pissed cause he doesn't get what he asks for. Really they didnt need Moss but it doesn't hurt to have a insurance policy

I doubt Favre will play any games like that. If he says he's done I believe him.

Brett played for some really great Packer teams and he only won 1 SB and that been his down fall of his entire career. Other than that he has been a great QB but SB's are why you play the game. Now we have him and Marino two of the best to ever play the game and only 1 SB between the two of them.

I'm shocked he decided so early. It appears he was just waiting to see if the Packers signed Moss before announcing his decision.

So, anyone else think Aaron Rodgers will crash and burn? Every time he steps on the field, he gets injured.

I think Favre was a terrific QB... but as good as he was, I hate how he held the Pack for ransom the last couple years, if the reports are true:
Get Moss or I'm gone.
Fine, go.

come on its as plan as day..he announces retirement a day after moss signs with patriots. I believe Farve is an emotional guy who isn't really thinking clearly right now and if i was him i'd be upset too. I would want any help i can get to secure my legacy and win. The packers did good last season but they played well over their head and i believe he knew that, which is the reason he pressed for Moss. Like Smoot also mentioned its fun to play on Sundays but what about Monday thru Saturday? Maybe that played a small part, maybe not being with his family. But at the end of the day Brett is a winner. If he feels he doesn't have the best chance then he won't fool himself.

I get what you are saying to a point. If you ask me he falls in with the Elway argument. Favre did QB some of the all-time great GB teams, no doubt, but to say that one of his down falls is that he only came away with 1 SB is not fair to Favre. Look at his WR's over that time. After the WR's left Favre they did NOTHING. I mean what did Freeman do when he went to the Eagles? And the samething can be said about the RB's for those teams, once they left the strong arm of Favre what did they do that was productive? NOTHING. What I am getting at is a Hall of Fame player is not only good, but they make others around them shine and that is what Elway, Marino, and Favre did...

Favre is a one of the great Qb's of all time, he did the Pack well. They had a really nice run this season and came up just a little short, in their final game at home against NY he was looking a little tired. And I certainly had a feeling the GB leaked web page, wasn't a accident at all (just went out to early).

The man can leave this game with his head held up high. Did get to see him in action in DC one time unfortunately we came up short, but he was fun to watch play the game.

His Hall of Fame career will not be forgotten. Enjoy the rest of your life Brett!

Who I really feel for is Frank Caliendo. He hasn't had to write a joke for the past five years, and now he's got to work for a living.

I agree. For the last couple of year he's been on the fence about retirement in the offseason, but never actually said he was done until now. I doubt it had too much to do with Randy Moss. Greg Jennings has emerged as a real weapon, plus Driver still plays at a very high level and that James Jones kid is nice too. Favre had a great season numbers-wise, and they went 13-3. Randy Moss is great and all, but I find it hard to believe that he was the deciding factor for Brett.

I'm bummed out. Next to Cal Ripken, Favre was my favorite pro athlete of all time. I'm sad to see him go.

I bet John Madden is on suicide watch.:)
