So is that your unbiased opinion??? I have heard quite a few times that he has some serious holes in his game.

Thanks dirtbag, which site you get that from? I didnt even think of how bad it would get over on ES

ESPN.com per their partnership with Scouts Inc.

With that said heres the deal with Brandon Flowers:

Strengths: Plays with confidence, doesn't dwell on mistakes and is comfortable playing on an island. Opens hips smoothly when forced to turn and does an excellent job of getting head turned around downfield. Does not possess ideal speed but he plays faster than 40-time indicates. Changes directions well, shows good burst coming out of breaks and reads routes well. Shows good awareness and can cover a lot of ground when asked to drop into zone coverage. Has quick feet and explodes out of backpedal. Aggressive, has excellent ball skills and is a dangerous open field runner. Isn't very tall but times jumps well, elevates well and flashes the ability to compete for jump balls. Plays with a mean streak, flashes a powerful punch and flashes the ability to slow receivers down at the line. Shows good instincts and fills hard when reads run. Takes sound pursuit angles, has sideline-to-sideline range and always seems to be around the ball at the end of the play. Times blitzes well and shows good closing burst when occasionally turned loose off the edge. Stays alert and gets hands up when isn't going to get to the quarterback.

Weaknesses: Doesn't have great size and is going to get pushed around at times. Can be overaggressive, is vulnerable to double moves and lacks the second gear to recover when gets caught out of position. At times looks like a sound open field tackler but lunges at ball carriers' feet and fails to wrap up at other times. Fractured right fibula in 2004, injured ankle in Chick fil-A Bowl at the end of the 2006 season, hindered by ankle injury during 2007 spring practices and durability is a concern.

Overall: Flowers appeared in the first game of his true freshman season in 2004 and actually returned an interception for a touchdown but he fractured his right fibula in that game and the NCAA granted him a medical red-shirt. He appeared in all 12 games of the 2005 season finishing with 20 total tackles including 13 unassisted tackles and 1.5 tackles-for-loss. Flowers also intercepted a pass that year. He moved into the starting lineup in 2006 and finished with 51 total tackles including 29 unassisted tackles and 7.5 tackles-for-loss. Flowers also recorded 3.5 sacks and intercepted three passes that year. He started all 14 games of the 2007 season finishing with 86 total tackles including 56 unassisted tackles and eight tackles-for-loss. Flowers also intercepted five passes including one he returned for a touchdown and recovered a fumble last year. Flowers is a slightly undersized corner who did not run well at the combine and had some problems staying healthy earlier in his career. However, he has excellent instincts, quickness and toughness in man-to-man coverage. He also is far more productive in run support than his size indicates. Flowers projects as a late-first or early-second round selection.

Hmmm... that kinda goes against all the bad things i heard besides the speed. I was under the impression that he struggled in zone coverage and had stiff hips. I knew he had good man-to-man skills and played the run well. Guess thats what i get for moving out of VA and across the country... cant see any of the local guys play anymore.

Owen Schmitt would definitly put McCants and Mix to shame when it comes to man crushes. I see him as a 3rd rounder to early 4th. Besides being a great blocker the thing I really like about him is that he has really good hands. I cant find the link but I read somewhere that he cought every pass thrown at him durning his senior bowl practice. If Campbell is throwing the ball short a lot next year, he could be a instint contributer on offense.

HIs wiki is pretty sweet

On the psychological written test, a question was asked "Are you a dog or a cat?" Schmitt wrote in "Lion".

Now that I think about it, he might be an ideal fit as the teams 2nd blocking TE untill Sellers leaves the team. In fact according to his scouting report he has experience at TE and given he does a good job at FB in the passing game maybe he can be groomed as a backup TE until he gets the starting FB position. In turn maybe they could move Sellers to the 2nd TE spot. And if I remember right, Cerato was pretty high on Schmitt during an appearance on Redskin Radio.

It said that John Riggins was his favorite football player, maybe its a sign, he's meant to be here, isn't mike seller like 30, 31, he could be backup and could be a blocker when Mike is running the ball.

If that mohawk, style of play, and the fact that he grew up in Fairfax, Virginia doesn't scream "JOHN RIGGINS IS MY HERO" I don't know what does.

Mike has a few good years left, but if there was ever anyone out there to groom Schmitt into being great it would be Mike. Physicially they're the same size and seem to have simular attutides and style of play

Mike worried me last year with his heal/leg injury and concussion. Having him as a special teams stud might limit his role in our offense as he starts to get a little older.

Being a Skins fan makes him a even better fit. As Dirtbag said the only real studs we had come to the Local Pro Day were Erin Henderson and Owen Schmitt, I have to think that has something to due with that fact they want to be Redskins.

I hope they do, they both would really give us some good depth.

Plus with the rumors of us unloading Betts for picks, I would love to have Schmitt as a backup RB. I know I wasn't for drafting him early in this process but its obvious that he has a lot of value with that third round comp pick. Especially if they get their DE in Merling or Campbell, a big-hard working reciever in Nelson, and a promising developmental prospect in Tony Hills. Plus if Bowman is healthy enough to hold down the fort for a year or two at corner then that would be a solid pickup as well and it could also help when they look for a top flight corner to replace Springs around this time next off season.

Looking at it now we'd be set up to go into next years draft looking for a DT, CB, S, and another O-Line prospect.

Brandon Flowers is on nfl network right now, he sounds pretty good in interviews & has some charisma. I'm a Hokie so I'm biased, but I would love it if we got him in the 2nd.

Re: Confirmed Pre-Draft Visits

Mike Mayock said he's the best corner in the draft but he rates him at #5 due to his lack of speed. Also said he's a "tough instincitve corner w/great ball skills" and would be a "great cover 2 corner."
