Re: Report: Chiefs DE Allen Talking with Vikings, Bucs
Why is KC putting him on the market? That doesn't make sense to get rid of a guy who is a young premier pass rusher.
I believe that it's because they have many needs and they are trying to stockpile picks. By trading JA for a couple of quality picks, it helps them out with numbers both in personnel and money. |
Re: Report: Chiefs DE Allen Talking with Vikings, Bucs
KC is a team that's definitely in serious rebuilding mode. I guess they figure they'd be better off with picks and I'm sure they are probably hesitant about locking up Allen considering his past legal issues.

Re: Report: Chiefs DE Allen Talking with Vikings, Bucs
you want the vikes to get him. if they do, there's a much better chance of derrick harvey falling to us. not great, but they're the last team he could possibly get to unless they pickup a serious DE before the draft.

Unless the Chiefs use that pick now on Harvey (or Merling)

Re: Report: Chiefs DE Allen Talking with Vikings, Bucs
Just reported on profootballtalk.com that the trade to the Vikings is almost done, just working out salary...

Re: Report: Chiefs DE Allen Talking with Vikings, Bucs
First and a 2nd right?
|
Re: Report: Chiefs DE Allen Talking with Vikings, Bucs
So now the Vikings are reportedly offering a 1st in 2008, a 3rd in 2008, and a 2nd in 2009. Chiefs should take that.

Re: Report: Chiefs DE Allen Talking with Vikings, Bucs
wow, thats a good deal for the chiefs. at 17 overall they can replace him, then use the 2nd and 3rd to improve their team. 1-2 year drop off at that spot, but they're not winning anything next year anyways.

The reason he is on the trading block is because Jared Allen was franchised and he told the Chiefs that he was not going to resign with the team. They figured trade him now why his stock is high rather then lose him next year and get nothing in return |
Re: Report: Chiefs DE Allen Talking with Vikings, Bucs
NFL.com just reported that Jared Allen was traded to Vikings..
Will post the link up once it is up, u can go to nfl.com as u sld see it tho.. |
Re: Report: Chiefs DE Allen Talking with Vikings, Bucs
Yep see it for yourself. Nothing up on ESPN though, probably will be soon. I'm curious to see what the Chiefs got for him. And now the Vikings have one of the most formidable d-lines in the league. This has draft implications too because now the Chiefs could be the market for Chris Long at #5 if he falls to them. This is a good thing for the Redskins too because it means the Vikings won't be looking for a DE at #17, if that pick goes to the Chiefs now, and that means one less suitor for Derrick Harvey, who I would love to pick if he fell to the Redskins at #21.
On the other side of the fence though, this could mean that the Chiefs take Matt Ryan at #5 and try to get a defensive end to replace Allen at #17, meaning they could be in the running to take Derrick Harvey at #17 too. |

Or they could take a falling OT and then trade back up into the 1st to get a QB, though I would prefer the former, as the Chiefs grabbing a QB would create a scarcity mind set among QB needy teams like the Ravens and the Bears. Of course the Ravens might be gun shy after their last trade up to take a QB backfired with Kyle Boller and the Bears don't trade up. Now that I think about hopefully the Chiefs grab an OT at 17 and then trade back into the 1st. Personally I'm relying on the other teams being scared that the Dolphins might take the QB prospect of their choice, plus Parcells likes to trade down, not up. Oh yeah, it's looking more and more like the Falcons will take Ryan with Dorsey currently being projected to end up in St. Louis. Also interesting side note: Long might not go to the Raiders at 4 because apparently his father Howie has a strained relationship with owner Al Davis and on top of that Davis loves the measureables that a guy like Gholston brings to the table. |

Chiefs get three picks in this weekend's draft from the Vikings. First rounder, and two third rounders
