Re: Portis, league MVP up to this point?
I just heard on ESPN radio that Portis has gone over 120 yards in 4 straight games and ONLY JIM BROWN and OJ SIMPSON have ever done that.
That's not right - Barry Sanders did it: Barry Sanders Gamelogs and Game Logs - Pro-Football-Reference.com So did Larry Johnson: Larry Johnson Gamelogs and Game Logs - Pro-Football-Reference.com Still, it's impressive. He should have #5 next week, although I wouldn't count on another in Pittsburgh. |

E-mail that to Mike Greenberg. :D |
Re: Portis, league MVP up to this point?
how many more yards till he cracks the top 25 all time?
|
Re: Portis, league MVP up to this point?
About 1000. And who would he bump from that list? His teammate, Shaun Alexander...

Idiot. Eat that.
While I appreciate your apparent loyalty to Joe, my answer was satirical, and meant as a joke. Joe has taken a lot of crap for that trade. It is good to see his vindication on the matter! HTTR |
Re: Portis, league MVP up to this point?
I didn't hear what Greenie said exactly, but the stat is actually that Portis, Brown, and Simpson are the only players to gain 120+ yards in four consecutive games more than once in their careers.

Re: Portis, league MVP up to this point?
as good as oj,brown and sanders were, portis blocks a whole hell of a lot better than they did.oj had about the shittiest oline in history for most of his career too.
i'd take CP over all of them.he is what you would see if there was a picture definition of rb. |
Anyone remember this from back in the offseason?
That's scary good that he was able to predict that and is now attempting/allowing it to come to fruition. Nice research on digging that up Matty! |
Re: Portis, league MVP up to this point?
Just hopefully we will see one of his characters soon.

Re: Portis, league MVP up to this point?
I dunno man...
My vote is for Campbell right now....Here's a stat 332 Consecutive passes without an INT... |
Re: Portis, league MVP up to this point?
CP MVP no doubt.

Re: Portis, league MVP up to this point?
Portis = MVP
Has a nice ring to it. Not too shabby for a 3rd down back. (sorry I'll never let that die LOL) |

Can't carry the load System back.....Got a dozen just like him........ask Denver AND personally.........I never did like Champ Bailey. When you think about it, CP certainly has his quirks, and some of them kind of tick me off. I really did not want to like him. But, if someone asked me to create a..........Football Man (I'm Offiss, and I support this message), he would be the model. He probably is some of these things, but on any given play he's up for Gashin' the D for about 25 the hard way, or decleating a defender 50 pounds larger. He's an......eccentric thing, but dude is a Baller! |
Re: Portis, league MVP up to this point?
I don't want to get ahead of myself, but CP through seven games has more yards rushing for the season than the following players did at the same point:
1984 Eric Dickerson (finished with over 2,000 yards rushing) 1997 Terrell Davis (finished with over 2,000 yards rushing) |
Re: Portis, league MVP up to this point?
at this point he is easily the MVP. He is averaging 115 a game and no one else is getting over 100. He is good for 1 TD a game and that is exactly what he is averaging. He is getting the ball more than any other player in the league but he is still getting 5 yards a carry which is second in the league by any of the legit running backs. Rivers could put up a case but his team is 3-4 and he is the leader. CP is a leader of the team and we are 5-2.
All i know is CP's pockets straight. |
