Anyone who doesn't want this guy is nuts. Immediate impact on the line. He is the best defensive lineman in football right now. I'd pay an arm and a leg to get this guy in a skin's uniform. Even if we kept the same pass rush as this year, with hanesworth anchoring the middle the sack total would got up exponentially
Anyone who wants this guy is nuts. With the history of FA signings that we have, and players looking at us like the golden goose-get a fat contract then go out and lay an egg; I would keep my arm AND my leg and go get some younger talent, and learn to develop good guys in house.

I keep reading how bad the FO is, because of this bust, or these bad trades, but then free agency appears, and suddenly the best move is grabbing the biggest named player regardless of what the cost. Let's not kid ourselves, if they went and did get Haynesworth, this board would be filled with praise, until the first game he laid an egg, at which point the FO would have been stupid for slamming our salary cap with an expensive and non-producing veteran.
If Albert Haynesworth came here and played to his capability, he would be the best DT in the history of the Washington Redskins by a wide margin.

He will be expensive to sign. The Oakland Raiders sort of set the market last year paying Tommie Kelly (their DT) about $13M a year for 4 years. Albert Haynesworth is significantly better than Kelly; the bidding for him will begin north of those numbers.

I'm not sure this is a great draft for DTs - - although I do like Jeff Owens from Georgia.

Here is what I would worry about with Haynesworth - - and it has NOTHING at all to do with his physical skills:
Some folks have thought that he does not play hard all the time and that he "takes time off" during games. That hasn't happened this year - - his "walk year". But what might happen next year with a fat signing bonus (north of $12M?) in his pocket and a roster bonus on hand for next year?

You just never know...

NO..........

Will they be available at 15-20?

I see this guy everynight on the news and he is not interested in staying here! He is a quality hard working big man. He alone could free up the other high price talented DE's to get the numbers we expect them to have. But most on here are right (as usual) too high of a price tag to waste cause we need more help then that...

Sadly I was thinking the same thing!

It was a horrible thing to do, but the deep down evil side of me is glad it happened to a Cowboy if it had to happen to someone!

He's a great player. If he's learned lessons and cleaned up his act, why not? He'd fill a position we've been ignoring for years.

Hey...DeAngelo Hall is working out...I never thought it would...

I've come to realize that Redskins fans are bipolar. On one had we want the team to build through the draft and be patient, develop our own talent, and stay away from the big name free agents and the big money that goes along with signing these types of players.

But whenever a big name is out there, people fall all over themselves clamoring for the team to sign them.

It's total insanity.

Tyson Jackson will be and Albert Haynesworth is good but doesn't it seem weird that he only became dominant after Jevon Kearse came back to team with Vanden Bosch to give them and edge rush

This guy reminds me of Stubby Dick who was Defensive Player of the year for the 49ers then came here and just blew.

Mount Cody is only 19 years and a true freshman he would be a fool to come out early. He should stay at least two more years develop more under Saban. Now Tyson is a beast I would love to have a player like him.

hahaha. i say no. it seems like he only busted his ass in his contract year. before, alot of football people questioned his intensity, and motivation.

Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
Haynesworth is 27 yrs. old. He's been very productive during the past couple of years. He is in a very good defense, but he is talented. I've only heard of his one incident when he stomped on the Cowpoke, but that's about it. I mean the only big time free agent we got this past season, came from a team that went 1-15 last season and was getting a bit old (Jason Taylor). Haynesworth is a dominant DT in a good team with a dominant defense. I mean if he were to come here and be a bust then well that's just bad luck or our coaching sucks. But this would be a good football move to get a strong DT that can create a good pass rush and disrupt the opponents running play.
He will be 28 by the time next season starts. If he was a middle market player (e.g., $5-10M signing bonus), I'd be all for signing the guy. However, I don't think you pay a 28 year old with questionable work habits and character a $20M+ signing bonus. There's WAY too much downside.

Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
See, I tend to think that if we have to choose between a DE or DT, defensive tackle appears to be in better shape -- Golston, Montgomery, and Griffin while not world beaters are decent and can get the job basically done. Then you have Demetric Evans who can play in the middle along with Lorenzo Alexander who can also play.

Our defensive ends, on the other hand are absolutely pathetic and cannot do what they're supposed to do. So if you have to go with one or the other, to me it has to be defensive end.
There are two lines of thought on this...either our DE's suck becasue they just suck or it's because our DT's do not get any push and the QB can just step up. It's probably a little of both but we would probably need the coaches tape to break down every snap to determine which it's more of. We do seem to have more servicable DL youth inside though...

Yeah, This has Brandon Lloyd written all over it....

Character and work ethics are HUGE red flags.
