Re: Shaun Alexander at Redskin Park

Every team needs some camp bodies and that's all SA is right now. Colt needs someone to run plays with. Let him have the dream of playing one more season while grunting in a camp. Then cut him in August.

If he want to still play for us, let him have a try out and we can always cut him in the preseason. I dont think if he has anything left but if he could be like a Gerald Riggs he could stay.
What did he do that was terrible? He had 11 carries. How could it hurt to bring him in during the pre-season.

A lot of people think it is o.k. to bring back Doughty who is a "never was" and a "never will be" so what would be wrong with giving a "has been" a shot with a minimum contract. At least this guy could bust out of a wet paper bag a couple years ago. The only thing that Doughty gives you is a few tackles on special teams and getting toasted on long completions if he gets isolated.
he did fine for the opportunities he got...

Doughty is a Special Teamer..who because on injuries and a murder..was forced up the depth chart..he has had good moments and bad moments...he
has to win a spot in camp...he has no special edge other than the hard work he's already put in...look how long Ade Jimoh lasted and Reed is exponentially a better talent than he ever was..

They are interchangable. Exponentially better? Give one shred of evidence.

Actually, I take that back. They are not interchangeable. Jimoh had better coverage skills.

Lol. He has accomplished more than any Redskin running back in the last 17 years. If I could have a softer back who would win an MVP and take us to the Superbowl I would trade for him tomorrow.

Jimoh was supposed to be a corner..only thing was he couldn't shut down
anyone..you want some proof..you tell me one receiver Jimoh could stay with?
I remember Pinkston of the Eagles lighting him up..he only has 2 passes defended in 5 years and averaged less than one tackle a game

but in the terms of viable contribution

they were both special team players that hung on and were forced to play defense...Doughty's 11 tackles vs in the win over the Giants in '07 at Strong Safety was more a contribution than Jimoh ever made...and we went on to make the playoffs with him on the field..when Troy Polamalu makes 11 tackles he makes player of the week

I know what position Jimoh was. I remember when Spurrier drafted him. I know he was lit up a lot but like you mentioned, he was a cornerback. Doughty is a safety. Typically corners have better coverage skills than safeties.

O.k. he had one good game. What about all the games he contributed to losing by getting abused by mediocre pass catchers?

How about as just a special teamer?... the reason both Jimoh and Doughty were even on any roster

Reed blew a fuse in a loss last season got a couple of penalties...and I figured he'd be cut the next day

I hope we never see Doughty at safety.. that extreme situations never arise ..that Landry or Horton never get hurt or god forbid murdered..like ST

I wouldn't mind Jimoh back as a special teamer..but never at corner..

emphatically NO. We do not need two Rock Cartwrights on this team. I've never seen more dancing in the back field except for Rock. Actually can we let Rock go also and either pick up a RB in the draft or use one of the ones we picked up prior to FA.

You must have Rock confused with ARE....

There is no comparing the these two players. SA has done an awful lot in career no denying that, but I think hes done. Rock on the other hand has been a good KO return guy and solid teamer/leader for the SKINS.

With that said, they brought in Dorsey for one reason to challenge at the position. It will be interesting to see how that plays out he does have the potential to be a really good threat to Rocks future in the KO return specialist,#2/3 RB role.

Rock is way better then Ladell, i'd get rid of him first

Re: Shaun Alexander at Redskin Park

There is no way Rock is better then Betts. Both have their issues. Betts likes to fumble atleast once a game but he atleast will try to run down hill. He may get only 1-4 yrds but he atleast goes N/S.

Rock on the other hand.....is more of an E/W runner. How people have forgotten seeing him in preseason dancing in the back field running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. Yes he will break one a game for like 40-50 yrds but he's not that good. Everytime I see him I think of how he takes one step forward and two steps back until he breaks his one long run then he's done.

As far as a KR yes he's not bad I will not complain. but to have a player on the team to only run kick offs back is rediculous. I wouldn't mind if he had the duties of KR, PR, RB but he's only relegated to KR. If we are going to have someone else do PR duties then I say cut him and have the PR also do KR.
