Re: Renaldo Wynn Agrees To Terms With Skins
I said that if you could get Wynn and Daniels for the same amount of money that you were paying Daniels or for a little more than that would be a good thing.
You've got two guys for the price of one (if Phillips signs) that know the system and aren't asked to do something they can't, pass-rush. They can get pressure and add Haynesworth to the mix who knows? We can't rebuild the team in one year. We've gotten younger in some areas and kept depth in others. If we could get Washington back for cheap that'd be good too. This is a youth movement, make no mistake about it. Even though these guys are older they're not the future of this team and they know it. Daniels and Wynn probably don't have any illusions of SB rings. They want to play out their careers in a good locker room, with guys they know and like, and with a coach they respect. That's why they tried to package themselves for a deal. As much as people like to bad mouth our team the truth is our defense is bad ass and has been for awhile. Almost every win that we've had over the past few years has been because of the defense with rare exception. If the offense didn't leave the poor bastards out on the field for 3/4s of every GD game, they'd have won a SB or two by now. These guys will be gone in the next two years or until a younger guy can be brought in. So be it. These guys work hard and you never hear them really mouth off.
Good post, people need to chill the f out. |
Re: Renaldo Wynn Agrees To Terms With Skins
Ho hum. I agree with Matty. Sign Daniels and sit at DE for a year. On the other hand I'd like a little more info on this "Palermo struggles" deal. How the hell does a position coach struggle? We're talking technique here basically right? does technique drastically change from college to pros? That sounds dubious to me.

I hadn't really noticed that when I first read it. But it reminded me of an interview he gave where he was saying he needed to step up himself. Makes sense now. |

I am glad he is back, if only as backup and locker room leadership. It says something about the Redskins, that a) players like to come here -not just for the money, and b) that the FO doesn't hold a lot of grudges or bad blood. If Wynn and Daniels come back and we are able to bolster the o-line, we should have a solid team that can compete in the NFCE this season. |
Re: Renaldo Wynn Agrees To Terms With Skins
Seems to me there are more people saying "chill out!" in this thread than there are people bashing the move (which we already knew was coming). Of the "bashers" at least a couple did so ironically.
I don't get all the negativity on this... we know 1) there's jack squat for LDE talent in the FA market 2) we're probably not drafting DE in the draft i.e. @ 13 there's probably not a DE available worth the pick 3) our roster is ridiculously thin at the position.
C'mon people... you can't remold a team in a single off-season.
Nice post. Good to see we have some fans with sense and realistic expectations. Wynn is an insurance policy in case no other LDE becomes available. PS- Draft Maualuga |
Re: Renaldo Wynn Agrees To Terms With Skins
Since no one else will say it, welcome back Renaldo. :D
It's a good depth signing. |
Re: Renaldo Wynn Agrees To Terms With Skins
I smell desperation on this move.

Re: Renaldo Wynn Agrees To Terms With Skins
I've also read that Kendall could be resigned to be a back up guard/center, and used at RG if Thomas is slow to recover.

Why not skip this old geezers and address the OL/DL in the draft. |

I think our defense was playoff caliber. I wouldn't put it in the same category as Balt or Pitt. I also get the feeling that the coaches on this team prefer to work with older guys and don't have patience for young guys. |

Re: Renaldo Wynn Agrees To Terms With Skins
Wow I was hoping he retired, so we wouldn't sign him, we could haved waited until after the draft to see if any other DE's became available.
