I think you may be overstating your case a little. I don't doubt that what the Skins are doing is hurting his trade value to some extent but he is still a capable QB who, I agree, will be a starter somewhere. So, I think he would have a relatively high value in a QB-starved league.
Well, the league is hardly QB starved. Successful QBs like Leftwich and Garcia can't even find work. Some teams have bad QB situations, and usually can't tell when the players on their team aren't good, though.

Look, if we trade for Cutler, Campbell obviously isn't staying on the roster. Teams aren't stupid. They are aware of that. They'll wait until we part with him, and then someone offers him a "prove it" deal. He'll have to learn a new offense, but whatever, we already know he can do that.

Unfortunately, we may soon find out what he's worth.
Should the Skins fail to acquire Cutler, I don't see Campbell extending his contract. Would you want to extend with a team that clearly doesn't want you? At this point, I think Snyder HAS to make this trade happen (sort of the same situation Denver is in now with Cutler). It's too bad, I really like Campbell.

HAIL!
He said he wants to remain in DC, of course we'll see after this whole fiasco.. or if it was all just classy talk

Ok we extend JC. But what is JC's market value? Do you pay him as a top 5 QB, top 10?

Yeah, but that can be done over the phone, like a lot of negotiations are done. Typically, Redskins One goes to pick someone that we want to sign.

Re: If we don't get Cutler, should we extend Campbell?

No we shouldn't. We should let him walk after his contract expires this off-season. If he decides he wants to walk right back to Redskins Park, that's great. But we haven't shown a commitment to keeping him around long-term, so we should allow him to test the market.

It's like the Redskins are Jsarno and Campbell is his ex-wife. You'd like for it work out after all you've already invested but if you're not going to be serious about it, then let Campbell go and let him find success where he's appreciated.
