re: Skins Sign O-Lineman Mike Williams
For goodness sakes, people, lighten up! They are just going to give the guy a chance. It's no big deal. It doesn't affect anything else. There's no risk. All of the recent QB/Draft drama seems to have everyone here on edge.

This could be a huge steal if his back is healthy.

Just like Erasmus James was a big steal after he came back ready to play of 2008. If these guys are considered steals I would hate to be a cleptomanic. |

re: Skins Sign O-Lineman Mike Williams
Based on what I heard what Danny and Vinny on the radio yesterday, this signing will have no impact on how the Skins draft today. Vinny explained the front office's unyielding devotion to "the board." If I understood him correctly, if at any time today an o-lineman is the highest rated player on "the board" the Skins will draft him, regardless of need. People may not agree with that mentality, but at least it is a plan that they are sticking to.
It makes good sense to bring in the maximum number of players allowed to training camp/preseaon. People get injured, don't pan out, get cut, etc. etc. What is the harm in signing someone like Williams? Especially since the team gave up nothing to bring him in. |

re: Skins Sign O-Lineman Mike Williams
This signing is probably being done out of respect to Dockery, and as a veteran minimum deal. Williams hasn't played in over a year, but has been working out for the past few months with Dockery at his home. I'm sure Derrick came in and vouched for Williams' desire and conditioning, which made it possible.
In my opinion, we can sign a thousand pieces of crap (and Williams may not be one) to vet min deals this time of year - they don't hurt us in the salary cap, and maybe they pan out or push a starter. |
re: Skins Sign O-Lineman Mike Williams
I like the move. He damn sure has the size. Its a low risk move that could benefit us if he is serious and healthy.

re: Skins Sign O-Lineman Mike Williams
I hope this guy can stay healthy. He is a BEAST, 6-6 370. But again, lets hope he can stay healthy.
And as for the whole draft topic, im as big a supporter as there is that we need to get a DE in the draft to work with Haynesworth, however, Sanchez appears to be the real deal, and even though JC will "demand" a trade, maybe its a good thing, he is in his contract year... maybe we can get a janitor or something for him. |

re: Skins Sign O-Lineman Mike Williams
Hey, its really not a gamble... there is no harm in brining him in here. If he ends up working out, its a huge steal, if not, it really doesn't make a crap of difference ya know?
I am very dissapointed we did not address the Oline in the draft given some of the guys avalible for us in the 3rd, 5th... |

This isn't looking like the signing I thought it was.
Samuels, Kelly To Miss Minicamp Several players will not be able to take part in the Redskins' three-day minicamp that begins Friday, according to Coach Jim Zorn. Left tackle Chris Samuels is still recovering from triceps surgery but should be ready for June organized team activities, Zorn said. Wide receiver Malcolm Kelly, recovering from another knee surgery, is able to run some but is not slated to be able to take part in football activities. Kelly should be able to take part in June OTAs, however, Zorn said. Guard Randy Thomas (neck surgery) and safety Reed Doughty (back surgery) have been cleared for work but will be limited during minicamp, Zorn said. Zorn also said that tackle Mike Williams, signed Friday, will miss minicamp as he begins trying to shed weight. Williams is at 410 pounds - at one point he reached 450, Zorn said - and the Redskins hope to have him around 370 by training camp. Williams has not played an NFL game since 2005. Zorn said that he expects fullback Mike Sellers, who has been skipping all voluntary workouts and is seeking a new contract according to team and league sources, to be at minicamp. He said Sellers texted him recently to say he is in great shape.
|

410 pounds? Zoiks! It sounds like we signed two guys, not one! Even if he "slims" to 370, how is he going to be able to move for pass pro, etc.? Good luck, Mike Williams. |
