He could be selling bass fishing bait. Or he could be a Mormon with insomnia. Or he could be an homosexual, in which case, if you were to call the police, it would mean you could never be Miss USA. But in all likelihood, he's dealing cocaine.

I am a bit surprised to see all our Warpath members who believe that the war on drugs is a failure and who advocate on behalf of legalizing drugs want you to call the police. Apparently the war on drugs is okay IN YOUR OWN NEIGHBORHOOD.
Drugs are illegal and it drives this type of crime on the streets so while it is illegal we have to deal with the crime it brings. If it made legal then all this crime will stop when people can just go to the Drugs Are Us stores and buy it for about half the price and thats with a 40% tax on top of the cost of the drugs.

Call the police. Respectable drug dealers don't deal to people they don't know(1), and they certainly don't deal on the street in front of god and everybody(2).

If they're dumb enough to be outside, report them.

This is going to be hard to explain, and I'll probably be misunderstood, but what the hell...

If he's just using, it'd be nice to just leave him alone. Like was said earlier, drugs are everywhere -- you can't escape them. So, you're not going to be able to make a situation where you and your family are completely free of this kind of behavior.

If the only problem is that he walks late at night, then there is no problem. You're just worried he could do something worse in the future. The reason you suspect that, is because you think he's immoral, since he uses drugs -- which of course is not valid reasoning.

Truly it's his prerogative to use, whether or not anyone else agrees with it. Just because your morals don't conform to another man's doesn't make them wrong or you right.

But, I know we can't do this...

^ I hear where you are coming from but last time I checked drugs don't usually attract the type of people you want hanging around where children play.

Though you did just make me think of something, maybe he is the buyer not the seller? Hmmm... Would you buy multiply times in a day and will drug dealers come to your house? I guess so.

Behind closed doors is one thing, but drug deals out in the open is something to be concerned about.

So if I decide to have 8 beers and drive home it is my preogative and no one should push their morals on me?

This is like saying that legalizing prostitution will do away with whores. Nonsense. Whores are ineradicable, drug dealing is ineradicable, and I am ineradicable.

Somebody will always be selling something in the alley.

mredskins, IMO he's probably selling dime bags. You said he's a grown man living with his folks, so chances are he isn't smart enough to have anything more organized going on than small time stuff. Drug deals made on the corner with 2 second hand shakes aren't exactly big time. But I understand your concern. I think his hands up in the air "what" motion pretty much tips it off. If he wasn't doing anything shady, he wouldn't give a shit who glances in his direction as they're driving by.

You already took a good first step by calling the police. You mentioned how tight knit your community is. I would use this to your advantage. Alert your neighbors. Maybe if the entire neighborhood starts giving this dude the eye he'll knock it off. Or at least take his business elsewhere.
