Re: 2009 Practice squad
Darn. Why do the Patriots get rid of their 29yo DTs, and we hold onto our 35 year olds like they were gold? I liked Dixon. It would have been nice to develop a young D-line with Orakpo/Jarmon/Dixon for years to come. Wynn (35) & Daniels (36) are only good for one-year at most, and Griffin is 32-33. At least Dixon is young and has potential. Too bad.

I hope Dixon sucks with the Eagles, otherwise I'd feel even worse. Wouldn't have minded if he went to the Raiders or someone else...
So letting go of Dixon means there's no youth on the line? We still have younger guys like Golston, Montgomery, Alexander, Jarmon, and Orakpo.

There are guys like Dixon all over the place. Not a huge loss to me.

Re: 2009 Practice squad

Look, I hate our practice squad. I feel like we have let a pro bowler in Dixon go. The only thing that makes me feel better is that since I have started following the Skins roster, I have fallen in love with many practice squaders. First it was Joe Skyes, then it was Alex buzbee and Devin Clark. I was sure that Devin Clark ws going to be a super star. Well, so far none of them have been worth a dam. So I can take solace in that.

Hey, does anyone know if they plan to give ARE any QB snaps in practice due to loss of 2 Qbs in a game?...I wouldn't be suprised if he could hold his own for half a game. (based on his pro QB numbers)
I highly doubt they'd activate this new practice squad QB under any circumstances

A Pro Bowler?

Really?

Dude was an undrafted FA who didn't even start in college. Not saying it couldn't happen but right now I think it's a small possibility he even becomes a starter let alone a Pro Bowler.

We're pretty deep at DT. That's a good thing.

I can't figure out if all this Dixon love is some kind of inside joke I am not aware of or if it's just a bunch of wasted energy?

Re: 2009 Practice squad

I'd b more worried about Dixon giving away our defensive plays to the eagles than him becoming a pro bowler

Agreed. People are acting as though we cut Albert Haynesworth or Orakpo.

Yeah I know. The Buddy Ryan, Gregg Williams, Greg Blache philosophy is pretty basic even if you use twenty packages to implement it.

It's the attack first, hunt for any weakness in pass protection, leave the corners and anyone else responsible for coverage on an island system.

Problem is you still have to be really good at "reading tells" as the coach and the unit has to be very high in "football IQ" to pull it off.

And of course it helps to have a bunch of nasty ass kicking freaks and I think we just might have that.

Re: 2009 Practice squad

I think the last two spots were used for LB and WR...

Woodson Among 8 Signed to Practice Squad

Onrea Jones WR is the other WR. 5 teams in 1yr is worrysome but he is a local boy which is what DS and Cerrato like. Sounds like he had a good preason with the Cards. I'm not sure who they picked up for the 8th spot...I thought it might be LB Young.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA – The Washington Redskins announced today that they have signed wide receiver Keith Eloi to their practice squad.
