I'm shocked at the ALCS, I really hope ( and I'm rootin for the Yanks ) that Boston wins a couple games this weekend, so this thing gets interesting again, right now it stinks.
|
This series is still far from over and Boston is more than capable of making it a series. That said, I am very relieved after these 1st two games. Pedro pitched very well, but the Yankees do what they always do against him, keep the game close enough that they have a chance to win.

Why don't they let you join? When I signed up 6 months ago, they email you a link or something for you to be able to join the forums. You are using your internet provider's email for your email address correct? |

It says that new registration has been temporarily disabled. Its all good. I'll keep on trying. For now, I'll post here on this thread. It's good to post here since there are so many Yankee haters and we can go back and forth with them (in a friendly way). |

Nobody expected the Yanks to be up 2-0. But I do agree that this series is no where near from over. Boston could've won game 1 and if it wasn't for Mariano last night the series could be tied. At least we have some momentum going in to Boston. The Yankees can't get comfortable though. Boston is more than capable of tying this thing back up. We have to play like we're down 2-0. Hopefully Brown can handle Fenway and all those fans. |

That way it prevents a bunch of flamers from Boston or even NY coming in. Every Boston series this year brought a bunch of newbies and flame wars begin. |
Don't our beloved Redskins do a lot of overspending also? If we were winning like the Yankees then everyone would hate us too. Thats the difference.
Yes the Yankees have done a lot of overspending, but hey they haven't won the World Series since 2000. Every club spends.......it just depends on the owner. Steinbrenner spends more than any other owner, but look at the Red Sox they have the 2nd highest payroll no one says anything about that. The Orioles went out and spent alot this year also. The difference is is that the Yankees win. That's all.
uhh... maybe you didn't notice that the NFL has a salary cap and while not all owners use it as effectively, there's a limit... the yankees have no limit and smaller clubs just can't compete in any way (AT ALL) because of the vast differences in economies and the way the leagues profit-sharing etc work out... (the NFL sharing a much higher %, has a hard limit and team totals are reasonable compared to the shared profit and financial standings of even the small market teams). the red sox, like i said, are the only competitive club to the yankees, and i wouldn't bother saying anything if there were more clubs closer to the yankees payroll, but there aren't and there haven't been... if they could beat equal monied clubs night in and night out, that'd be fine by me... but if you start an NFL game where one team always starts 27 points behind... well, that's not exactly exciting/worthwhile/fair... |
Well like I, and I think others, have said in earlier posts the Yankees are not to blame if other teams aren't spending more money
|
but the league set it up that way, and the financial problems of other teams limit their ability, i'm not saying its the yankees fault that that system is in place, but the fact that over 2 teams really overspend like that really ruins the entire game for me, because if its not competitive, there's not much reason for me to watch...

You'd have to be real stupid to not notice that. All I'm trying to say is, the Redskins like the Yankees have an owner who's committed to winning and will spend as much as he can to win. You can't appreciate that? Look man, I respect your opinion and I'll leave it alone. All I want is for my Redskins to start winning and my Yanks to continue winning. I'm just a fan, thats it. I'm no expert in payrolls or economies or profit-sharing. That's the way the league is set up. And it doesn't look like it's changing anytime soon. |
I feel that the way the Yankees and other big-name teams that can spend spend spend and keep the revenue coming in to support that have actually driven more people away than have been brought in. I don't think it's their fault, because the Skins used to do the same thing, and we would if there wasn't a salary cap now. I think a Salary cap is needed for all sports, not a cap setup like Basketballs though.
|
i respect your right to root for and like the yankees ;) i'm just a bit turned off since they have such a huge huge huge advantage over basically everyone but the red sox (who are sorta kinda close)...
if danny could have bought a championship, it would have been done already.. two or three times over... just not that easy though :( |
19-8 Game 3. It was the "Boston Massacre" part 2! One more win and I can breathe again.
|
looking like the yanks are going for number 27... it is number 27 now right?
|
This series has been so lathergic. I'm very dissapointed in it, I waited allyear for the Yanks vs Sox, and the Yanks are making htem their b*tches. Oh well ,My cards are just gonna roll the yanks in the series.
