Re: Redskins Sign Armstrong...Seriously, No Joke, Ain't Even Playin'
Nice bump, saden.
He's outperformed this guy: Antwaan Randle El, WR for the Pittsburgh Steelers at NFL.com ,,,and for millions less. Goes to show the biggest FA of the year is not necessarily that good. |
Re: Redskins Sign Armstrong...Seriously, No Joke, Ain't Even Playin'
Lol at everybody who was wrong in this thread. 40 receptions, 772 yards, and the #2 wideout spot locked down for the time being later, that signing is looking pretty good. Hopefully he keeps producing for us but I'm sure he'll always have his haters, as long as he isn't putting up elite #2 wideout numbers, just like people hate on Moss despite him being our most dependable receiver and a mostly reliable guy.

He's really come on strong of late too. Nice diamond in the rough.

Huntz was on point with this! Vinny left us with an all-star
All he does really is run deep, but he does it well and unlike previous guys who ran deep routes he catches the ball |

Who is hating on AA now? I thinks he's been a fairly bright spot in this season. |
Re: Redskins Sign Armstrong...Seriously, No Joke, Ain't Even Playin'
He could likely finish the season with 900+ yards receiving. When was the last time the Skins had a number 2 receiver with over 900 yards? Albert Connell in '99?

Re: Redskins Sign Armstrong...Seriously, No Joke, Ain't Even Playin'
Interesting - good bump! I didn't realize that Armstrong was a VINNY signing. I gave Shanahan credit for discovering him. Nevertheless -- I guess Shanny deserves credit for holding onto him & actually starting him.

And on a side note he did by far the best Dougie end zone dance in the NFL this year. Speed and Dance moves= great WR potential.

I don't think they're hating on AA as much as they're saying they're not satisfied with our current group of wideouts. Personally if we went into next season with Moss and Armstrong as our top two I wouldn't mind, I'd just rather have some young talent instead of Roydell Williams (who really hasn't brought much to the team). |

I just think most people want a "real" number 1. Moss and Armstrong are both very good role players at this point. A strong # 1 (I am thinking of Calvin Johnson, VJax, SRice type player) would make a strong WR corps, consisting of new #1, Moss, Armstrong, and Banks, with Austin in reserves. |

True but when I think of priorities with this team, upgrading the interior of the line, getting our qb of the future, and fixing the defense would all come before getting an elite wideout. Santana is not necessarily elite anymore but he is still a very dependable wideout. I haven't seen him drop many of those wide open passes like he had on Sunday over the years. |
Re: Redskins Sign Armstrong...Seriously, No Joke, Ain't Even Playin'
Armstrong caught a couple of shorter crossing routes on sunday. That was good to see as he hasn't gotten involved in the mid range passing game as much. Maybe Rex will get him more opportunities.

I would try for an elite wideout in FA not the draft. Heck maybe Kelly with a full year of rehab and strengthening can come in and be "the guy". I agree that we have a lot of priorities, glad I'm not the one deciding where to start. |

If there is an elite wideout in FA I'd look into it, but I wouldn't get into a bidding war if there was a lot of other suitors. I too want to see what we have with Kelly, I just feel like there's a lot of unknowns at the position right now with Kelly, Austin, and Banks. People talk a lot about putting Banks in more of a playmaking role on offense, but what if the staff already tried that and determined his route running or hands needs a lot of work? People tend to forget the coaches spend all of their time working with the players, whether it be on the field, or in the film room. Maybe he hasn't been consistent enough in practice to warrant getting more pt on offense. |
Re: Redskins Sign Armstrong...Seriously, No Joke, Ain't Even Playin'
Whenever anyone says AA I think of a "safety" we had. Wonder what he is up to nowadays, besides training.
