And he is not embarrassed that he only 18 receptions in 2 years?
that's kind of loaded

we just found out what happens hopefully when you put him into position to make plays

Fred Davis is never going to be a great blocker. There's no point in even scheming that. Send him into the flat as as a safety valve. At least he would have a chance to do some good. If you're going to have a TE pass protect, give Lorenzo Alexander a number in the 80s and call him a TE.

Amd Matty is right. The jumping in the air thing would be laughable at this point if it weren't so stupid.

I wonder how much these guys really work on pass blocking. Sellers is awful at it. Ditto Betts. Portis is the only respectable one and he's never in on 3rd down.

I live in Southern California so I saw Fred Davis play alot at USC, and he was a pass catching TE at SC. It is no surprise that he is not that good at blocking thats what a good scout is supposed to see when they scout players is look at their weaknesses and strengths. He makes plays with the ball in his hands. Good game Fred keep catching balls for TD's. Im also glad that you want to work on getting better at blocking. Love the attitude right now showem how they do it at USC bro.

He hasn't had to before... you can teach somebody with a body how to block effectively through technique. It may not be a Hogs block but it can give the QB enough time to deliver the ball.

They've had years to teach Sellers and he's still awful. I'm dubious about the ability of this satff to "coach em up" because there has been such little improvement with the players they've had for multiple seasons. Nobody ever seems to get better at anything. This season, in fact, it's been nothing but regression across the board on offense.

Sellers went to the pro bowl soley on his ability to block....not sure what you are talking about?

Not sure why all the hate on Fred Davis?
Fred Davis has not been productive because we play mostly a one TE formation and Cooley is in front of him in the depth charts. Add to it he plays on one of the worst offensive teams in NFL history. How exactly is that his fault?
Yes he was singled out for having a couple of bad blocking days. But we have had other players have bad days lately as well. Lets give the kid a chance to show what he has.
This is not like the WR's Thomas and Kelly situation who have been given starts over other more deserving players (Marko). Davis is finally getting his chance to start. Let see what he does.

from the other day:

"The last bit of good news, though, is that Davis -- as promised -- was in today, working with tight ends coach Scott Wachenheim while the rest of the players were away for the first day of their bye week. Between that and the word from head coach Jim Zorn that Chris Cooley may be back in four weeks, this was a surprisingly good day for news about the Redskins tight ends."

I don't know if Wachenheim will be a great pro coach or not, but having lived in the same city as Liberty for several years, he DEFINITELY played an instrumental part in bringing that school's football team to a very respectable level. I'd take 5 more of him over these guys that probably have no business being on a sideline.

I think that he meant pass blocking for Sellers.

Sellers definitely won't be making the Pro Bowl this year on run blocking though.

I think I saw they put Fred Davis to a WR position. He looks pretty good on that. He looks like a big WR than a Te.

Davis definitely has the athleticism.. He's pretty fast for a TE, somewhat similar to Vernon Davis.. Fred has shown us that he can make plays, but we just need to teach him that this is NFL, no more jumping and protect ball all the time.. Once he learns, I really believe he could be good player.. Cooley and Davis for years to come, would be absolutely beast, it would happen only if our offense coordinator knows how to utilize them both..
