Re: Report: Redskins Have Traded for Jammal Brown
Favorite game these days:
LT - Brown (Trent Williams will serve as the backup LT) LG - Dockery - Cook C - Rabach - Kory L RG -BMW - Rhinehart/Edwin Williams RT - Williams - Hicks - Capers Most likely it'll be Rinehart and Williams getting cut especially since Hicks will be the primary backup at Guard now.
Doubt we'll keep more than 9 OL man, so it's two of Cook/Rinehart/Lichtensteiger/Ed.Williams on the interior, and Capers vs. Heyer on the outside with Hicks as the 6th OL/G-T swingman. BMW and Hicks both have contractual security for this season, which leaves just 3 spots for the above 6 players. One would have to think that Cook and Capers have a huge edge with the way that Shanahan holds his draft choices. |
Is it really so much better if Jamaal Brown gets schooled by Ware in Week 1? Seems like, even if Williams ended up needed help the whole game, at least we get a learning experience out of it.
Buzz kill! Brown will do fine. |
Re: Report: Redskins Have Traded for Jammal Brown
You guys are forgetting about Stephon Heyer as a backup tackle now. I suppose the line will look like this:
LT - Brown, Heyer, Capers LG - Dockery, Cook C - Rabach, Kory L RG - BMW, Rinehart RT - T. Williams, Hicks, Capers Which leaves E. Williams either in the fold as a versatile backup or he gets cut. |
Re: Report: Redskins Have Traded for Jammal Brown
Okay crisis averted. Again per Schefter:

Re: Report: Redskins Have Traded for Jammal Brown
Talk of playing Brown at RT was pretty prevalent back in March when this trade was first discussed. I could see that still being the case

I don't know how it will play out, but clearly our line will NOT be the same sad thing we saw last year, and that should give all of us joy!

I mean we did it last year but you have to consider that the 10th guy was D'Anthony Batiste. Personally I think that Rinehart and Williams get cut while Cook and Kory L. stay. Of course if Rinehart emerges as a serious threat then they could easily put Cook on the practice squad.
Talk of playing Brown at RT was pretty prevalent back in March when this trade was first discussed. Right now some other pairs to look out for to contend for this all important ego title are as follows 49ers - Staley/Davis Baltimore - Gaither/Oher - Soon to be broken up Miami - Long/Carey - current champions Jets - Ferguson/Woody Vikings - McKinne/Loadholt - Though I keep hearing these days that McKinne is only average. Carolina - Gross/Otah Jacksonville - Monroe/Britton Either way isn't everyone glad now that we didn't sign Chad Clifton to a massive contract? |
Re: Report: Redskins Have Traded for Jammal Brown
He won't, or at least not that bad, because last time the saints played the Cowboys, Jammal Brown held DW sackless the whole night. It was his 3rd or 4th year in the league (DW's) so yes JB has played him when hes at his best.
How much can you conclude from one game? Ware has gone silent for streaks of three games at a time, and has been schooled by Cooley before in the running game. He's an inconsistent player.
Point being, you've got a pretty decent chance of neutralizing him with Trent Williams out there as long as you've got help for him. Brown is pretty out of position at LT, and the hope is that Williams will flourish there. I don't want to start the process of trying to put a band-aid over a draft reach, just put Williams out at LT and let him teach himself the position from the start. We'll be better for it. |

Hopefully we'll get a pick back for Gaynesworth at some point this offseason and we'll be straight.

Re: Report: Redskins Have Traded for Jammal Brown
Well, it looks like it's all over but the shouting.
Now. How much did we give up?? |
Re: Report: Redskins Have Traded for Jammal Brown
It's common to let the veteran starter to continue to play his 'nurtural' postition (AH?). So Trent Williams will have to be groomed on the right side before he's shifted. You can imagine if Flozell came in it would be the same situation. This is how it's done.

Compensation
Interesting
Washington owes the Eagles a third- or fourth-round pick in 2011 for McNabb, based on how the quarterback plays or the team performs. If the Redskins win nine games, or go to the playoffs, or McNabb gets selected to the Pro Bowl, then Philadelphia will receive Washington's third-round pick and New Orleans will get Washington's fourth. If none of those happen, then the Eagles will get the Redskins' fourth-round pick and the Saints will get the Redskins' third-round pick.
Looks like their plan is to trade back in 2011 with their first and second round picks. Of course trading for a pro bowl tackle and QB in the same offseason is easily worth loosing a 3rd and 4th round pick. Easily a far cry from the days where we would spend those picks on the likes of Brandon Lloyd and TJ Ducket. |
Re: Report: Redskins Have Traded for Jammal Brown
What college did Brown attend? Hmmm.
