Re: Chainsaw Dan Snyder

So far this year DS has been true to his word. He has taken some degree of accountability for his past mistakes. Not full disclosure mind you but some responsibility. I think he has learned finally to let the football guys run the team.

Regarding Monday night we just plain out got our asses whomped by a younger quicker team. Who have a quarterback playing off the charts. To fix our team is gonna take YEARS. If we continue with the quick fix solution our beloved Redskins will never be anything better than a middle of the pack team.

Also if you feel the need to threaten changing your support for the team because of ONE LOSS. You have already caved- move on to another team with a transient fan base, like the Cowboys. There is a team that needs more spineless fair weather fans. If you love something NOTHING will change your support. Either man up and gut it out like most of the true Redskins fans or take a hike. HTTR!

nothing to say from this long detailed article but wow!

andyman whom extreme wets themselves over as an "inside source" was really karl swanson and some of his henchmen.

DS sold year old airline peanuts at the stadium when the peanuts had a 3 month shelf life?

he forged names with his telecommunication company?

Re: Chainsaw Dan Snyder

Andyman = Swanson was no big secret, nor was it very hard to figure out.

Gotta say though this dumping on Snyder right now is really uncalled for. And alot of the criticisms in that article can't be pinned directly on him and are petty gripes. For instance Gibbs wanted Saunders, it's not like Snyder brought him in and forced him upon Gibbs.

yeah thats why i didnt start a new thread or anything. but i found the article to give more details to things we alredy had some knowledge of plus it was done in a pretty cool entertaining manner.

but yeah, the past is the past right now until we learn of things otherwise.

but come one man, that was a pretty interesting article for content and format.

Re: Chainsaw Dan Snyder

There's way more to blame Snyder for than to not blame him for.

People are hesitant to trust him. He has mostly been a horrible owner in his time here. He knows little about football. 1 season where he is trying to do the right things is not enough for some of us to forgive him just yet.

He has single handedly killed a once respected and beloved franchise. No other person besides maybe the senile Al Davis has done such a thing...

Re: Chainsaw Dan Snyder

He also treated a dying Dan Turk like a piece of shit. Al Davis at least called the Turks.
Peggy Turk said Oakland owner Al Davis showed more compassion toward her husband than Snyder even though Turk hadn't played for the Raiders since 1996. Davis called to check on Dan Turk, which is why the long-snapper's photograph in a Raiders uniform was displayed at the funeral.
ROFL. Well if Snyder brings in a Doctors note* claiming he is senile would we forgive him?

* The note can't be on six flags letterhead.

I usually really enjoy reading Gregg Easterbrook's column, but this one really ticked me off. Last year he went on a rant calling for Snyder to hire a true GM, he did, and now Gregg is still saying he is tearing this team apart. I know realize why some younger fans are expecting the win now scenario from the new leaders of the organization, they get it from the freakn media. I saved this article because next season, or the one after, when the Redskins are top contenders, I am going to email Easterbrook and call him on this crap.

For most of the franchise's history, it has not been a winning program. It's not like the Redskins were a beast for several decades and suddenly fell flat.

Also, had more people had more access to more information back in the day they wouldn't have such a rosy picture of previous owners either

But it's the world we live in today

After Ray Flaherty, it was a long time until George Allen. Just imagine what I've had to sit through. Shanahan is my 21st coach, Dan Snyder my 3rd owner.

You realize that the skins are among the top 5 or 6 teams in total NFL games won in the history of the league?

I guess not...

BTW teams such as the Bears, Giants and Packers that are ahead of them in total wins all started in the 20's while the Skins were 1930's so have a 10 year head start.

I'm also guessing you don't know that under Snyder the skins were approximately 24th in the league in wins (last I saw)? So they certainly ain't padding the stats...

Seems like a lot of pro Snyder people here smearing any article that bothers to mention all the idiotic mismanagement of the Snyder era. It all starts at the top folks.

Maybe you can point to some specific facts or point out errors in a real substantive way instead of just poo pooing articles because you don't like how they portray the owner?

As if hiring a GM after 11 or 12 years of playing FF with the team, wipes away all the misery?

Check out that Washington City Paper article... the man is possibly the biggest douche in the history of billionaire douches. Yeah amazing as that sounds, a bigger douche than Donald Trump (and by a mile)

MAYBE McNabb was 100% Shanahan... but the way he pulled him at the end of the detroit game doesn't seem to support that presumption. The trade its self has Snyder MO written all over it. In any case it's hard to believe that Snyder had nothing to do with the trade. Snyders money has had a mesmerizing effect on just about every coach he's hired, why should Shanny be any different?

Regardless of McNabb if after over a decade of this mess you aren't AT LEAST a little weary and not too fast with your "benefit of the doubt" then ... well I better not say it...

BTW Larry Johnson also had Snyder written all over it, you mean to tell me that Shanahan the king of pulling great young running backs oiut of thin air wanted a washed up big name? Look at how much of a real shot LJ got... before he was cut for Shanny's project Ryan "reminds me a TD" Torain...

Re: Chainsaw Dan Snyder

You do realize that Shanahan once went over the cap and on a separate occasion, broke the payroll record that we set with Deion and friends. Hell, he even signed the ENTIRE Browns' defensive line.

I'm aware that over the history of the franchise they have about 550 or so wins, which puts them I think 4th all time. I'm also aware that they have 500 plus losses over the course of their career which makes them historically just above a .500 team. In the 50s, I believe they had one winning season, two in the 60s.
Maybe you can point to some specific facts or point out errors in a real substantive way instead of just poo pooing articles because you don't like how they portray the owner?
Just a few things

700 Pages: Length of the playbook brought to Redskins Park in 2006 by Al Saunders, who Snyder hired to call plays for Gibbs. In pre-Snyder era, Gibbs’ comparatively simple offensive schemes revolutionized the game and brought the Redskins three Super Bowls: Where's your proof Synder forced Saunders on Gibbs. Further, why is there no mention of the massive success Saunders has had as an offensive coordinator in the NFL?

Herzog, Frank: Beloved former Redskins play-by-play announcer. Herzog was best known for signature call, “Touchdown, Washington Redskins!” He was replaced in Snyder’s Redskins Broadcasting booth in 2004 by Larry Michael, best known for saying “Brought to you by Subway! If you love bacon come into Subway! Eat fresh!” I know Frank Herzog and this is simply not true. Furthermore:

Pals reunite on-air with Frank Herzog, 'the voice' of the Redskins - washingtonpost.com

Herzog explained later that Redskins owner Daniel Snyder wasn't behind his firing; he was dumped by radio station WJFK-FM, which then held the rights to broadcast Redskins games.

"It was a money thing," Herzog said. "They wanted to use one of their employees, who had other responsibilities, so they could save one salary." As for Snyder: "He did all he could. I saw him later, and he looked me in the eye and shook my hand and said: 'I don't interfere with the decisions of other companies. It's their call to make.' "

And while I'm not a fan of Larry Michael, why was there no mention that he spent several years doing play by play for George Washington's basketball team for over a decade, that he has a history in sports radio programming, that he's covered the Olympics, NCAA tournament play, boxing. He didn't just walk in off the street with no credentials

Inside the Red Zone With Vinny Cerrato: WTEM radio show featuring top Snyder aide that debuted early in the 2008 season, shortly after Snyder had bought what was then D.C.’s only sports-radio station. Because of abuse from Skins fans, Cerrato quickly stopped taking calls. He later stopped showing up at all on Mondays after Skins’ losses. The show didn’t return for the 2009 season.: Yeah VC didn't approach it right or handle it correctly, but no mention that the Colts GM also has a weekly show?

Mitchell, Brian: Redskins fan favorite and the NFL’s all-time leading kick returner. Mitchell was cut in 2000 to make room for Dallas Cowboys star Deion Sanders.: No mention that Mitchell and Snyder speak frequently, that Snyder apologized for not stepping in when VC suggested getting rid of B Mitch, that Mitchell accepted that apology, that Mitchell re-signed with the Redskins for a day so he could officially retire as a Redskin

“More than 200,000”: Number of names that Snyder claims are on the waiting list for Redskins season tickets. So why were the Redskins reduced to putting ads on the sides of Metrobuses this season?: No mention that this questionable waiting list has been in debate since Jack Kent Cooke's days Wait Service: Reality be damned, Redskins claim season-ticket demand keeps growing. - Washington City Paper
Check out that Washington City Paper article... the man is possibly the biggest douche in the history of billionaire douches. Yeah amazing as that sounds, a bigger douche than Donald Trump (and by a mile)
Well my short list of examples above should show you that the article doesn't paint the whole picture. It also doesn't talk about Snyder starting the Redskins Charitable Foundation, flying the entire team and their families to Sean Taylor's funeral, putting the time and resources in to renovate playgrounds in the poorest DC communities, getting Robert Royal's family safely out of New Orleans as Katrina was hitting,
MAYBE McNabb was 100% Shanahan... but the way he pulled him at the end of the detroit game doesn't seem to support that presumption. The trade its self has Snyder MO written all over it. In any case it's hard to believe that Snyder had nothing to do with the trade. Snyders money has had a mesmerizing effect on just about every coach he's hired, why should Shanny be any different?
Sure, we can speculate all day. Doesn't make it right

Look at how much of a real shot LJ got... before he was cut for Shanny's project Ryan "reminds me a TD" Torain...
More speculation. Forgot that Shanahan signed Travis Henry? Granted his stats were better than LJ but he was a veteran big name
