Re: Injuries will create a youth movement opportunity
I was just happy to see someone at the center position other than Rabach, he has been terririble for the last 3 years and it seemed the line got better in his absence.
I don't think Shanahan is the rebuilding type. While we got our wish of having good football people running this organization, we got one that wasn't going to blow everything up.
To rebuild a team you need draft picks to draft talented young players unless you want them to fire everyone over a certain age for undrafted players. |
Re: Injuries will create a youth movement opportunity
Shanahan turned over 1/3 of the roster in a year with limited free agents. You can't rebuild a team in one year. We're going to see more change next year.

I mean, Montgomery was horrible last year (has been a lot better this year) and you can see the difference he made in pass protection in this game in the middle.
The thing is Rocky shouldn't even be playing inside. No way is be big and sturdy enough to be playing inside backer in a 3-4. I don't understand why Blades and Riley aren't playing inside and move Rocky outside.
Blades and Riley aren't that much different in size than Rocky. Rocky: 6-2 239 Blades: 5-10 242 Riley: 6-0 238 If anything, Alexander should be moved inside (6-1, 272) and Rocky outside. I don't know the nuances of the 3-4 like some do here, but wouldn't that be a closer role to how he was used in the 4-3 as the will LB while also putting a bigger body in the middle to take on guards? |
Re: Injuries will create a youth movement opportunity
Alexander is good in space and can help hold the edge

Re: Injuries will create a youth movement opportunity
Looks like James Davis will finally be added to the roster with Chad Simpson going on IR

It's about time. |
Re: Injuries will create a youth movement opportunity
Yes, there will continue to be lots of change over the offseason. I actually miss CP being in there. He looked good and can block like no other. But, yes, hopefully we can see more of some young guys:
Banks James Davis Riley Maybe Austin Mike Shanahan is a smart guy though. If Austin was ready or deserved to be activated he would be. We're still 5-5 and right in the mix. MS wants to win games #1. |

I really want to see Davis and Austin on the roster, they could provide a nice spark during the tough stretch coming up. |

Great point. It amazes me how impatient the Redskins fans are. They loose sight that Shanahan and Allen inherited a 4-12 mess that we can call a team. To be 5-5 at this point is an improvement, we have won more games than all of last year. It's funny how in the past almost everyone gave Snyder shit for being impatient and not building a team the old fashion way. Now that we finally are building a team over time, some are saying it taking too long or we are not doing it fast enough. Redskins fans are never happy. |
Re: Injuries will create a youth movement opportunity
Skins plan on adding a safety to the roster this week. Lendy Holmes I guess is the obvious choice, but I'm not sure it'll be him

I think, though, that you are seeing a bit of the extreme fan in the blogging world though. It's not a full sample size of fans. Same thing on the radio, the fans you hear from are generally "extreme" fans. Not that those fans that aren't posting are not big time fans, they just aren't letting their opinions out. It's going to take some time and i think most fans realize that. There are some idiots out there that just want to fire everyone after a loss too. It's going to take a long time to fix what Vinny did here. |
