Re: Santana's contract to void; will become free agent
No we won't. By the time we're good, he's going to be too old. Let the guy go, he deserves to catch on with a winner, not a rebuilding project.
I would go as far to say that I'm not sure that he'll want to return. He's getting up there in age and wants to win. He's made alot of money. He's really been a great Redskin but I can't say as I blame him if he wants to go to a contending team. I'm not sure I'd bring him back if I was the Skins anyway. As mentioned, we're not going to be good enough to contend next year, so why sign him to a contract? Let him go to a contending team. Let us get the young guys on the field to rebuild. Let's see what we got even if it's not much. |
I think they should let Santana go, let him catch on with a team that has a chance to contend.
If we let all our good players go so they can play for a team that can contend then how will we ever contend? |
Re: Santana's contract to void; will become free agent
The only news here is that once Moss' contract voids, he'll be able to sign with any team under the current CBA prior to the impending lockout on March 4. So Santana can pocket a signing bonus even if they lock him out, which will be good insurance for him against not getting any game checks at the beginning of next season.

Haha...I have tried that but you guys don't want to listen to me. |

Might as well let 98,23,47 go while we're at it smh |
Re: Santana's contract to void; will become free agent
He has plenty of quickness to be our Wes Welker slot receiver in this offense for at least a couple more years. I hope we re-sign Moss before the lockout.

SM is about 32 years old. He'll command decent money on the FA market. Our team needs rebuilding that's going to take a couple/few years to retool. Do we want to sign a guy to a 3 year contract who's 32 years old? I'm not saying it would be the worst thing in the world but I think this is a time to get the young guys in. Someonen mentioned Orakpo. It's different. Orakpo is young and under contract. |
Re: Santana's contract to void; will become free agent
Even on a rebuilding team there's room for vets. Moss is still a productive player.

Re: Santana's contract to void; will become free agent
Another team who might make a run at him is the Jets.
Holmes and Edwards are both FAs and probably looking for a big payday. They likely will lose one of them. |
Re: Santana's contract to void; will become free agent
I would like to see him back, but I'll go with whatever the FO thinks is best.

Just think, Holmes #1, Armstrong #2, and Santana in the slot. Of course, this would present a problem for Brian Billick (if he does any of our games), since he already believes Moss' name is Santonio. |
I know I am in the minority on this but I really don't care if he comes back. I can live with it if he gets a 1 year deal, but in general I am done with this group of veteran players we have that have never won anything. Santana can still play but I prefer a complete overhaul of this roster.
if he can still play...why not use him to PLAY??? Gettin rid of a guy just for turnover is crazy IF ...U don't have a guy to replace him...we don't...so give him a competitive contract for his age, and bring him back. He has been the MOST productive player we have had in 6yrs. When you find a replacement, then move to another guy(only for guys that produce for you) |

The offseason has not even started yet. If we are going on the assumption that we will not be able to add any other WR's to replace him then sure I will sign him also then. I never suggested we would be better off subtracting Moss and not adding any other WR's. |
Re: Santana's contract to void; will become free agent
Dude were ****ed without him

Re: Santana's contract to void; will become free agent
We definitely need him. He and Armstrong are a great #1 and 2. We finally used Moss the way he should be last season and he could still be productive a couple of more years, at least one more for sure.
I hope he comes back with a 1-year deal at least, if not 2. If he leaves, we'll need to draft a WR, which doesn't work out more times than it does...and it takes away from addressing the O-line, a more pressing issue.
Sorry, at best that is a GREAT #2 and #4. Maybe if Armstrong continues to improve - - he isn't exactly a kid you know so he may be as good as he is ever gonna be - - that tandem might be a great #2 and #3. If this is your standard of "greatness" for the WR corps, then it is hard to imagine a team being less than "great" at the position unless they lose their top 5 WRs to injury in a single season. |
