Re: Smmot Lays the Smack Down (Cowboys at Redskins)
Great game. we played a good dallas team very competative all day. I have said all along that Rex should have never been benched. The team as a whole plays better. Passing game is more north south, defense seems to play more inspired.
DeAngelo Hall absolutely f'n kills me. Two big 3rd down plays (3rd and long) he is playing 15 yards off the receiver and its basic pitch and catch. I can give a shit if he slipped. He plays up on Bryant, chucks him at the line, timing is off and play is incomplete. I am sick of watching him give up big 3rd down conversions this year. He runs his damn mouth all game and does nothing, and can't tackle for shit. Where was Helu?? Ran the ball very effective when he was in, and he is a beast out of the backfield. Can't understand why he isn't in the game as the primary back. The biggest issue of the day, the biggest issue of the year last year, GRAM F"N GANO.... How is this guy still employed?? He is the worst kicker in the NFL. No one has missed more field goals this year than him, and no one has missed more FG over the last two years than him. When can we get a damn kicker that can atleast make a 40 yard field goal?? I dont care about how young he is, how strong his leg is, he has cost us numerous games over the last two years by missed extra points, missed field goals....it is ridiculous. He needs to go.
Hall is what he is. Right? We've seen this from him since he's been here. He never plays bump and run. Always give a big cusion. He does that cause he can't cover. I agree. They just need to stick Helu in there and quit all this nonsense with rotating backs. |
I'm happy we will get Barkley or RG3 so I'll take a loss I hate Dallas but I want a QB
Agreed. Like I said earlier and will continue to say, Andrew Luck is still a possibilty for us, especially with QB's like Barkley and Griffin playing as great as they are playing. I could easily see Indy swapping picks with us to get Barkley and another first rounder, for Luck. |
Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Cowboys at Redskins)
Mike Shanahan's game management was pitiful. Today, I think is an excellent example of how the Redskins can become competitive with other NFC East teams thanks to an already-arrived (but inconsistent and undisciplined) defense, but how Shanahan is still going to struggle to win every week the way the game is played today.
With that said, I was sure that Shanahan was going to go for two after the Stallworth TD. We've seen him do that before (2008 - Denver-San Diego). It would have been the perfect time to call the best play the team has in the red zone - if the play gets overturned, it's a fourth down must have, if not, the same play wins the game. I understand playing conservatively, but after passing that up, I can't defend the decision to kick a 52 yard FG. After passing up a 48% chance to win, that's not the probability play. Also, the ice the kicker timeout is the worst play in football. |
Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Cowboys at Redskins)
Haslett and the DBs coach need to fix the secondary. Both of our starting corners gave up key plays and TDs (actually I think Wilson gave up both TDs). We need a young FS with good covering skills, and I guess Landry will be back next season but he needs to be healthy.
Our running game is pathetic and I don't understand why we are not giving Helu the ball. Still, our running plays are terrible and the off tackle stretch runs need to stop. I know that's part of the offensive scheme but here's a crazy idea...ADAPT to something that WORKS!! |

Me too. We finally played an exciting, competitive game. It sucks that we lost but at least this loss is not so depressing. On another note, I love Helu but he needs to develop more strength so that he can break more tackles. |

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Cowboys at Redskins)
Shanny for calling that timeout right as they were about to get a delay of game penalty when going for the FG in overtime. And extra 5 yards and I don't think that kick makes it.
I know he was trying to ice the kicker, but there was almost no time on the playclock and Romo was out of position because he was trying to call timeout even though they didn't have any left. Just a complete bonehead move in my opinion and I'd love to hear him try to explain it, except I'm not going to waste my time watching his presser.
Yeah i saw that romo was trying to call a time out when they had none, i dont understand shanahan's reasoning for calling the TO. would that have been a 15yrd penalty? if not a 5 yd cuz the play clock might have run out or even if they got it off, might have made the kicker push it by rushing the kick.. |
Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Cowboys at Redskins)
I'm not even mad about this loss tonight. This team should me exactly what I thought they would be. A competitive and scrappy team that were in the games, but barely lost out (or won) in the end. The previous weeks had been a disappointment because I thought the team was much more capable than what they had displayed.
I got labeled a D. Hall hater a year ago for saying he wasn't that good, and even went on to point out the stats. There are times when D. Hall plays tight coverage on the guy like he was his second shadow or something, and then turns around and gives up a 3 and 15 play. It's frustrating because the guy could be so much more, but plays with little discipline. Not even going to hate on Gano for that missed 52 yard FG, but the guy needs to step it up. He's currently the ranked #31 kicker out of 34. http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?seasonType=REG&d-447263-n=1&d-447263-o=2&d-447263-p=1&d-447263-s=KICKING_FG_PCT&tabSeq=0&season=2011&Submit=Go&experience=null&archive=false&statisticCategory=FIELD_GOALS&conference=null&qualified=true Orakpo seemed to be dominated the whole game by Doug Free. He needs to start developing a better move if he's going to improve on his career. Otherwise, it's going to be a flash in the pan one trick pony. I'm going to say something about Kyle and not in regards to the play calling. The play calling was fine today, but why is he continuing to run Torain? Helu is averaging over 4 yards per carry and he's still trying to run that bum? Really? |

Why would we do that when we could just grab Barkley our self? Wouldn't make since one bit. |
Gano - leading the league in misses and missed 2 more today. God damn it, can we just get better here
Injuries - I hate this b*tch. im sure Silverback is out for the ****ing year.
i was real disappointed we drafted dallas startz instead of mason crosby. as much as someone could be disappointed their team didnt draft a kicker in the 6th round or whatever it was. did it look like the boys interior rushers schemeatically went low to the side of the line trent was on to try and kinda cut down some of that line so their overloaded rushers on the outside of that side could have any easier corner to turn? |
Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Cowboys at Redskins)
Yeah Brian hasn't had a good year IMO his worst as a pro idk I think he'd be a better 4-3 DE more like a Robert Mathis

But I mean they didnt need all that effort, its Gano, a guaranteed miss. |
Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Cowboys at Redskins)
Orakpo is unfortunately quite overrated around the league, but whatever..
Impressed with Riley again, Gomes was a guy who I didn't even know existed on draft day and had a respectable debut. Grossman was a trooper today, I was very very impressed with him all game long. This type of play every week and we're contenders. |
