Re: Peyton manning cleared to play
I also believe the Colts have made their minds up already to move forward without Peyton. The owner cleaned house and has his new coaching staff ready to start the Andrew Luck era. As far as the Redskins QB situation if Peyton is healthy we need to take a long look at him. The big question is which team would Peyton prefer to play for and how much would it cost to sign him. I rather take a healthy Peyton than give up multiple draft picks for RGIII who has never taken a NFL snap. The odds are RGIII will never be as good as Peyton Manning. The problem for us is we pick a #6 spot in the draft and only 2 QB's are worthy of a top 5 pick. We all know Luck is off the board at pick #1 so thus leaving only RGIII to at least 4 teams ( Browns, Redskins, Dolphins,Seahawks) looking for a franchise QB. The Rams will use every trick in the book to get 1 of those teams to bid against each other to raise the stock in the #2 pick. I think we have to many areas of need to give up so many picks to move up to pick#2. its a huge risk.
How about this if the Browns pick RGIII , would the Redskins be interested in giving up a 2nd or 3rd for Colt McCoy? I would try to get him for a 3rd pick and we could use a later rd pick on maybe Russell Wilson to compete for the starting job. We could use our 1st rd pick on a O-lineman, CB, or trade back for more picks. |
Re: Peyton manning cleared to play
was he ever able to throw farther than 80 yards? 70 yards? wake me up when he's slinging it

Re: Peyton manning cleared to play
......I know Eli is relieved.

Re: Peyton manning cleared to play
I will punch a hole through Shanny's face if we end up with Colt McCoy. He was a 3rd round pick then and has done nothing to warrant us giving a 5th for him let alone 2nd or 3rd.

Re: Peyton manning cleared to play
Colts are going to be releasing a statement today basically countering the claim that Manning is cleared to play

@JimIrsay Jim Irsay Peyton has not passed our physical nor has he been cleared to play for The Indianapolis Colts. Team statement coming on Friday[/quote] Didn't you guys see this coming? There are obviously too many fans slobbing on the knob. It had "Rob Lowe" written all over it. I want no part of the Manning show. Yeah, he's a hall of famer but, so was Bruce Smith, Deion Sanders, and Jason Taylor. Skins need to draft their own franchise players and continue to improve the core of the team. As lustrious as Peyton's career is, he's only won the big game once. If Dungy wasn't a part of that, Peyton would still be chasing the hardware. The Skins will not be any more competitive for a championship with Manning on board. And yes, the team won't have to sacrifice draft picks to aquire Manning but, think of how much salary cap he will eat up prohibiting more talent to be signed or re-signed. And the team would have to deal with this for the next few years because you know Manning's contract will be front loaded... |

Wasn't it one of the team doctors that medically cleared him to play? Can't help himself - "wants to keep this stuff inhouse", yea right! The release of that DR stuff means he can't say he's cutting Manning because he cares about his health. Que the Peyton Place music... |
Re: Peyton manning cleared to play
I'm w/Diehard, would rather see us draft some qb's, too much can go wrong w/Manning & there's little future payoff.
Last night on espn radio Doug Gottlieb asked Dilfer where Peyton had the best chance of winning. Denver was mentioned, also Arizona. I actually think that IF he were back to full health & regained form, from his persepctive the Skins give him as much of a chance at winning in the next 2 years as anyone else that needs a qb. That's a big IF and I think its not in the best interests of the team to pursue him, but I can see why he & his agent could look this way, and not for $ reasons. This is a team hopefully on the rise w/a strong staff & solid foundation. |
