re: Redskins Sign RB Ryan Grant/Place Roy Helu Jr. on IR
i'm pretty sure he's here to block on some of the passing plays. otherwise, i mean, what pro bowlers are sitting around on the street on week 3? at worst this is a trash in, thrash out signing.
Pretty sure Helu had one carry, but heard after the game he was limping pretty heavily.
He had a big carry late in the game on the drive to make it 38-31. thats all i remember |
re: Redskins Sign RB Ryan Grant/Place Roy Helu Jr. on IR
Who did we cut to make room for him?
Why does anybody think Steve Slaton is good?
this Im better with the Grant signing than Slaton |
Running backs come And go so fast, remember the guy that replaced grant? James starks or whatever? Now where is he at

re: Redskins Sign RB Ryan Grant/Place Roy Helu Jr. on IR
The Redskins are hurting at the RB/halfback position. Grant signing with us is an excellent move.
I would have preferred a change of pace back. Morris and Ryan are both grinders, we need a shifty back.
? Helu and Royster are the change of back compared to Morris. |
re: Redskins Sign RB Ryan Grant/Place Roy Helu Jr. on IR
Did Helu even play last week? I remember Royster but not Helu.
Pretty sure I hear both names several times. Helu I thought caught several passes. Royster I only heard as running the ball outside. Morris took the ball between the tackle most of the day. And they used Banks on the option. |
re: Redskins Sign RB Ryan Grant/Place Roy Helu Jr. on IR
Hightower-still not even healthy enough to work out with teams from what I last heard
Grant-apparently healthy enough to get signed by the Skins w/o even a workout Slaton-think what the Skins see in him is a step in when needed back who is familiar with the offense Helu-he's been hurt for a while and aggravated his injuries on Sunday. I'm still a bit surprised, quite honestly, that he wasn't IR'd Royster-also got hurt on Sunday, though it may not be as bad (3-4 weeks out) as I originally heard |
Hopefully Grossman.
I second this, not because of anything against Grossman. It just doesn't make sense for him to be on the roster, and not dressing for games at this point. |
He did have a pretty good year playing for Kyle, and he has the tools to be a quick plant and go back like he was for the Texans, and WVU. Who both run similar styles in the running game. It only takes one chance to prove your worth.
Our running style has undergone a major re-design this season. I think some of the offense would be similar to Kyle's Houston style, but certainly not most of it. I want a running back that's good at chip blocking and releasing. Our pocket keeps folding on the edges. I dont know if Grant or Slaton is a better run blocker, but if memory serves, it's Grant. |
re: Redskins Sign RB Ryan Grant/Place Roy Helu Jr. on IR
Great article from Bleacher Report on Ryan. It was released prior to us signing him, so it leans towards him ending up in Detroit. However that doesnt take away from their opinion of his skill set. Pass blocking is a strength for him. I think in a weird way this helps with two things, not weighted equally. It's another body in a hurt running back rotation, and to a lesser degree, it could help Griff on 3rd downs get to his 3 and 4th reads.

re: Redskins Sign RB Ryan Grant/Place Roy Helu Jr. on IR
If pass blocking is a strength, then its actually a really smart signing. Lets slide him in a Right Tackle. Speaking of, any word on that worthless POS Jamal Brown?
