^ in regards to your sarcasm: there is virtually no conceivable method of developing an equation that would accurately illustrate the competency of the group in question. There are simply to many variables in place (bone breaks vs muscle tears, recurring injuries, etc.) when your field of inquiry is a sport as violent as football. Were you to consider the majority of our more recent injuries however, you would find that most are easily reduced in their frequency, if said group had a more "competent" understanding of preventative medicine, which we currently seem to lack.
seriously off base. First, the various types of injuries can be classified, and certainly are. 2nd, the data is extremely quantifiable, 32 teams, 10 years, x number of players IR'd per team, broken down per classification. Add in length of recovery, and throw out any pure anomalies, and those paid to do statistical analysis would give you books ad nauseaum. I have no clue if the Skins would fall outside of the statistical norm, but the smell test to me says that our team is no more or less prone then the rest of the NFL.
Looking at the latest injury report, I'm failing to see how we're any worse off than a number of teams. I guess there's a lot of shitty training staffs around.

Agreed. We are not. I dont even have to look at the report to know that

Now we have a bunch of professional doctors in here. i second the "game over" motion, we can't beat Dallas without him. lol

Unfortunately, those classifications are not defined within the scope of football, so the classification is nothing more than the diagnosis; making their analytical relevance "a wash." We have a bad history within the organization of players suffering non-career threatening injuries yet never finding the field on a consistent basis after the fact, as an example. And though I may not be a doctor, I am a graduate of my university's school of health and human performance; so I insist that you do not pass "the new guy's" rant as one of angered stuper.

This is some absolutely shitty ****ing news. God damnit.

Keep hearing how injuries happen to all teams. Well, how many of those teams are down 7 starters for the year? (and still being competitive) It's not like we've lost backups or lost a guy for a few weeks. We've lost guys for the season. You can't lose that many starters (especially quality ones) for that length of time and do well.

it's like finding a $20 bill, buying a candy bar, and losing the change.

Anyone decent on the FA market at Safety?

Thoughts on Ray Ray Armstrong? (due to his situation he should fall pretty late in the draft next year, or am I just hoping he will be half as good as Sean T because of all the early rumors about him?)

What is your basis for this conclusion? Sports medicine is a well developed field. Experts conduct research and regularly provide testimony and reports based on that research in the area all the time. Sarcasm aside, I believe your assertion to be false and, at best, speculative. I would post links demonstrating the falsity of your assertion, but I am at work and have access issses.

I would? And how would you prove this lack of competence?

Facts and expert analysis are absolutely relevant as to whether the Skins staff is incompetent. The question of "competence" is determined by whether or not the techniques, methods and practices of the Redskins trainers conform the standards within the industry. Are they performing the required tests? Are they taking the steps indicated by medical professionals who analyze these things for a living, etc.

Do you have any medical training? Do you know the standards within the industry? Can you tell me what, specifically, the Skins trainers are not doing which trainers in professional leagues are doing and should be doing? If not, you're conclusion that the Skins' trainers are incompetent is, again, base speculation.

You want to believe they are incompetent? Fine. In doing so, however, and without comparative facts or expert opinions, you are simply giving an uniformed opinion.

You, of course, are free to talk out your ass all you like. Your attempt to defend your speculative opinions by asserting that informed opinions can't be made, however, is, at best, wrong and, at worst, ignorant.

Anyone else here think 3MiamiDade posts in a way uncannily similar to fanarchist?

Ya know, 20 years ago I took several advanced statistics courses from U of Md. Since then I have done 0 work in the field. So you sound like you have more practical experience. And, I think some on here had said that our facilities were the worst in the league a few years ago. I also thought it had been said that we had moved up the food chain and that ours weren't as bad as they used to be.

Overall, I think every year, every team has certain players go out, and not come back as fast. In fact teams that don't have that seem more like the anomaly or lucky ones.

Miami grad here. Huge Ray Ray fan - mentioned him a couple months ago in another thread. Could be a huge steal in the later rounds.

JR...he's not interested in your silly notion of "facts" and quantitative evaluation that could provide concrete conclusions approaching 100% certainty. He just KNOWS the truth.
