Re: Josh Wilson #26
if tanard and meriweather can stay on the field next year, we'd be set there, but, i mean, who knows. byrd would be a huge upgrade regardless, but if we get cash strapped, a true #1 cb is probably more important.
we'll need a FA TE (there are 3 that are good enough, one should be cheap enough), and i'd like vollmer at RT. no one we draft is going to be starting there next year, and it'd probably help our offense more than throwing that money at another WR. as for the draft... db, db, db, db. just keep trying till something works. any FA that's proven he's good is going to be really expensive, so, long term, it'd be better to find our own guys. |
Our best corner play will happen when we have two solid players at safety. I am sure there will be movement at the CB position, but it won't mean squat until we deal with the safety position.

I would like to see this happen, but will Hall accept less money from the Redskins than another franchise is willing to pay him? |
Re: Josh Wilson #26
I'm not mad at Wilson for trying to break up the pass rather than just tackle Bryant. It's easy for me to say that because the Skins won but It was also a great throw and blocking by the WR.

Still, Wilson should never take that gamble. He rolled the dice and lost big time. Had he stayed with his man or just tried to knock the ball down and not try to intercept it, that play doesn't happen. Josh Wilson is not Lester Hayes. |
Re: Josh Wilson #26
Watched the game again this afternoon and think that coaching may have played a big role in Wilson's coverage of Dez on the TD. What you can see on play after play is defense going hell-bent-for-leather separating balls from Cowgirls. Blow-ups in the end zone, more helmets on balls, etc. I think MS and Haz were preaching TO's all week, maybe even offering bounties. And overall, that strategy worked, even if it resulted in a TD on that play. Wilson made some outstanding plays otherwise, so we know he's capable of closing on receivers and playing smart.

Hopefully not for money. "Whoever knocks Dez Bryant out of the game has to run one less lap at practice." |

"Whoever knocks Dez Bryant out of the game has to run one less lap at practice."
More like offering a bounty for turnovers, not knocking anybody out. |

Bounties just make me nervous in general now. |

Josh Wilson is not a bad corner. In fact he's a good corner. If he gambles on a play like that, let him do it on a much shorter field. Not 85 yards from the end zone. |

Re: Josh Wilson #26
Yes. Fix the safety positions and the secondary is fixed. Cuz how's the eagles and cowboys secondary faring with their big free agent acquisitions and big trades to get these "shutdown" corners? Every corner gets burned- especially against great qbs like RGIII.
Don't get me wrong- there probably is some room to improve at the cb position, but safety is much more of an impact position in the nfl. |
Re: Josh Wilson #26
Safety and right off tackle is the greatest priority for the redskins in the draft. OT prob moreso for the redskins since there currently is not a potential player on the current roster in line to step up for next year.
Wilson is our best corner? :vomit:
It'll be interesting in the off-season to see who we pick up/cut in regards to the secondary. I wouldn't be sad to see Wilson or D. Hall go. As long as we could bring in some upgrades. (But I still like D. Hall.. Meh) It kinda sucks that Crawford doesn't seem to be working out and that Minnifield got injured.
This |
