If you're talking about Brunell, yeah, same result. Actually, now's the time they should get him to restructure, at least to give a little more cap room this year.....although that could make it a bigger hit in a year or two when he is released (I think). If they could talk him into restructuring for less money that would be awesome, but I doubt he would go for it (he still believes he can be a NFL starter....yeah right!). |

same result basically there's no way around a cap hit whether a player is traded, cut, or retires |
Re: Salary cap- After Coles release
damn. what if we restructured his deal so he gets less money now, then cut him. would we still have his numbers on the future salary cap?
|
Re: Salary cap- After Coles release
All restructuring does is delay the inevitable. By reducing the cap # in the short run, you're pushing it to later in the contact, then once you cut or trade the player it all comes due.

Re: Salary cap- After Coles release
very rarely do players rewrite their contracts so they make less money...

Re: Salary cap- After Coles release
From the WP:
"Swapping Coles for Santana Moss brought a salary cap hit of roughly $9 million, and leaves the Redskins with less than $2 million under the cap. " |

Unless they are in danger of being cut, and don't feel like shopping themselves - I'm looking at you, Jerome Bettis. |
