list looks like a lot of bodies. meh. if the FO wants to try someone cheap, i wouldn't mind, but nothing jumps out as a great buy.
The only one that intrigues me (slightly) is Major Wright. He's only 25 and has mostly been solid, according to Rotoworld, at least.

Horrible tackler. Might not make final roster.
Well said, I think everyone knows this but the few still want the BIG $$$ signing.
I did when FA started, but not now. Did you and Bruce think that a top-notch starting safety was going to be cheap? I assumed that's where we'd be spending the big dollars.

What I wrote still stands: Bruce has already failed to fix the secondary in FA because he's not going to fix it with the FA's who are left. Now, you're just letting him off the hook.

You might be right I could be letting BA of the hook, but lets see how are draft looks and if our DL brings a lot of pressure then we shall see.
I wish we could get rogers and clark on 1-2 year deals. Between them and the youth drafted last year and some mid round picks this year I think it would do a lot to make the backend defense stable.
I agree with this except the choice of Clark. Rogers is a proven NFL CB and would be a difference maker in the W-L record. But Clark's past health issues combined with his age makes me want to take a pass on him.
I can not help but feel like Hasslett does not understand the importance of a team leader at FS. It seems like he goes into a season with ?'s and inexperienced youth at that position. Why?

I have a feeling we might acquire a veteran Safety if a good one becomes available during preseason cuts. Every year a couple good players become available when teams make the tough cuts. In the past we did not have the cap space to pounce on one. Now we have the flexibility to do it. We better. Let's see what happens.

The comment makes me wonder whether Haslett will move Hall into the FS slot and rely on Porter, Crawford, Biggers, and Minnifield to battle it out for the 2 and 3 spots opposite Amerson. So Hall and Merriweather as safties, and Amerson and player TBD at the corner. Even though Merriweather was at FS most of last year, for hiscareer he's more of a SS, so pairing him with Hall could work. But that puts a lot more faith in the youngsters in the CB position that most would be comfortable with.
I don't like this move at all, primarily because the guy can't tackle. I'm tired of watching him get run over. Surely, there must be some FA DB who can do what he does and also tackle well.

The Skins get a mid-term grade of D from me on their efforts to sign FA DB's. Tracy Porter might help a little. Other than that signing, we haven't improved the secondary at all.
We have improved the pass rush which will have a direct impact on the secondary. Tracy Porter will help, we should get Phillip Thomas back from his injury, Amerson in his second year, D-Hall back, and I think someone already said we have the draft still and we are still in the mix for Ryan Clark and any other free agents available between now and the season opener. I think we'll be fine in the secondary.

I think adding Crawford and Thomas are going to be the additions we need to the back end. Crawford really made strides last year hopefully he can get well and get after it.

It would be awesome if Crawford and/or Minnifield keep Porter on the bench and Biggers off the roster.

E.J. Biggers is Haslett guy.....Haslett spoke highly of Biggers last year.......Rob Jackson still hasn't been re-signed......I think he will be back too.....

i guess no one offered jackson the money he thought he'd get. he'd be nice depth for sure.

as for safety, i wouldn't mind trying major wright, but i think our first pick should probably go safety. hopefully the guy we draft and PT prove to be the starting combo we've been hoping for.

just remember thomas had a bad injury and might not be fully recovered till halfway through the season... which kind of sucks :/.

Best case scenario is players like Biggers, Santana, and Merriweather are cut in camp meaning better, younger, more potential is stepping up and improving this roster.

If I see the same old guys like these make the team, 8-8 best chance for the Skins this year.

There you have it! Now why the hell should we be in the position of needing to draft a safety again this year?

I'm not criticizing your post, That Guy, I'm just pissed that Bruce didn't fix this position in FA. There were several good, young options. He had enough cap space and flexibility to get it done. He should have stepped up and got it done. Instead, he overpaid for a mediocre OG who isn't going to help fix our OL problem.

What were your FA priorities? Mine were FS and RT. Do we have a FS or a RT? No! Priorities are what you do first. If your roof is leaking you don't blow your repair budget by installing new tile in the kitchen.
