Re: Around the League...Training Camp Style!
Honestly, he's delusional if he thinks he's going to get another coaching chance after the debacle in DC: Mike Shanahan would return for 'the right ownership' - NFL.com
Having said that, it would be awesome if the Cowboys hired him. How jacked to you think RGIII (among others) would be to beat the snot out of a Shannahan coached team? Interesting statement about coming back for "the right ownership." I guess that means we have the "wrong" ownership. Given that Snyder gave Shanny everything he wanted, not sure what would make for the "right" ownership. Sheesh. |

Mike didn't have an issue with Dan because Dan gave him everything he wanted, which is what Mike wants. That said, any owner that gives Mike full control again deserves his franchise ran into the ground. I'd let him coach, but no way would I let him have full control over the team. edit: Add in the fact he'd be looking for "salary cap space" to compete in free agency would be a resounding FUCK NO on the Shanahan option. He'd blow it all and leave you fucked for years after it falls apart. |

Shanahan is just unreal.

You really need to give that "the ego" avatar up to Shanny if he ever joins the board. |

Or replace the Easter Island head with Shanny's in the avatar. |

I agree with this assessment. Candidly, I don't think he was terribly effective as a coach either. The 2012 run we made came after he said that we were probably out of the playoffs, and the players took it upon themselves to step up. While folks speculated that maybe Shanny was giving them motivation, I thought it was more a moment of candor. So the best of the Redskins was arguably inspired by his over-sharing. Anyway, moving on.... I am excited to see what Gruden can do. |

I've heard several ex coaches say the same thing. He should do some TV and enjoy his millions. At this point not sure why he'd want to coach anymore. |
Re: Around the League...Training Camp Style!
I'm sure he'd be great on TV. Remember his pressers? Always so charming and engaging.

Yeah, when I heard TV was a strong possibility, I didn't quite see how that made sense either. Luckily, someone finally realized how awful that would be. |
Is there any chance the NFL goes back on this and actually hits Rice harder? So far I've seen articles about this suspension on ESPN, Yahoo, & Bleacher Report and all of them agree that this is a joke.
It really is. If I was to play devils advocate I would say that comparing drug test failures to domestic violence isn't fair because drugs can be tested for where you could argue domestic violence is harder to prove and a lot of times can amounts to he said, she said. Of course then you think about the ridiculous number of arbitrary suspension and fines for lesser offenses that weren't caught on tape and all you're really left with is staring down at the ground while softly saying 'oh.' Also for the record I'm tired in the comment section of every other athlete domestic violence story where there's a handful of guys that immediately jump on the 'oh she wants money and is faking it' bandwagon. I'm all for waiting until the facts come out especially since being a woman beater, at least in theory, should be only slightly better than carrying the labels of rapist and pedestrian. However this whole 'accusing every woman that accuses athletes of domestic violence is looking for a pay day' crowd is really getting on my nerves. |
