I'm surprised their offensive line lasted that long. |
Re: Around the League: WEEK 1 Baby!
Apparently fans are taking this link as gospel and feel like the NFL is somehow going to retroactively rescind the suspensions of Welker/Gordon even though they were suspended under the current rules, and lost their appeals.
A new drug testing agreement could benefit Welker, Gordon | ProFootballTalk Here is the problem with that. What about the other players suspended this year and the past. Are they going to go back and rescind their suspensions and give them their pay back? JR, you are the attorney here, would the NFL open themselves up to a lawsuits from past/present players if they did retroactively rescind the suspensions of Welker/Gordon, who's punishment occurred under the current rules and not any future ones? |
Re: Around the League: WEEK 1 Baby!
It all depends on how the policy is worded and if the Union agrees to it. Part of the negotiation is to have applied to all players suspended this year for testing positive prior to the season. The policy is not being unilaterally imposed but is being through negotiations with the players union. From the article linked within the cited article:
On Wednesday night, PFT reported (and several others thereafter did, too) that the NFL and NFLPA had made considerable progress toward crafting comprehensive new drug policies, including hGH testing. One source told PFT that a deal was “very close.”
While I am not 100% certain b/c I don't do much employment law, pretty sure if the NFLPA agrees to it, the NFL is protected from litigation by the players (past or present). |
Re: Around the League: WEEK 1 Baby!
Did Green Bay throw ONE pass to Richard Sherman? Lol. Seattle looks like they're picking up where they left off. Dominating run game, timely passing, smothering defense, Harvin makes such a big impact on their offense. They just wore Green Bay down it seemed.

Re: Around the League: WEEK 1 Baby!
I wouldn't throw at Sherm either when the guy on the other side is making his 6th career start.

Re: Around the League: WEEK 1 Baby!
Go back to that Redskins vs Seahawks playoff game in 2013. Talk about two teams/QBS going in completely different directions since that game.

Game plan seem to be stop Lacy first half and unleash hell the second half. Ill go ahead and say it, Kam Chancellor is Ronnie Lott 2.0. He's flat out crushing guys. |

When healthy, Harvin is a top 3 playmaker in the league. In Minnesota no one paid attention because 1) AP and 2) Its Minnesota. |
Re: Around the League: WEEK 1 Baby!
Defense wins Championships....still.
I love that the two best teams (Seattle & SF) in the NFL are mostly winning with intimating defense and a strong running game and not a prolific passing game. I guess the rule changes and enforcing the ones on the books is not enough to let the golden boy QB's shine. Kind of funny actually. As much as the NFL tries to make it a "QB driven league"..... Seattle in their last two games trounced Peyton Manning and Aaron Rogers, arguably the two best QB outside of Brees and Brady. If Seattle's defense keeps dominating, soon you will hear the press use words like boring and bad for ratings. Then more rule changes will come. |
Re: Around the League: WEEK 1 Baby!
Lacy suffered a concussion but no word on how serious. I had him pegged for a really big year. While Starks seems competent, I think losing Lacy for any length of time would be a big blow to GB.
|
Re: Around the League: WEEK 1 Baby!
Also, Seattle was very creative with its change-ups. GB had to focus so much on Lynch that they could run all sorts of plays off of the option or play-action games.

Re: Around the League: WEEK 1 Baby!
Regarding Harvin, here's to hoping we use DJax in a similar role.

No fun league strikes again:
Carolina Panthers Greg Hardy's Kraken face paint now NFL violation - ESPN Okay. I get the uniform violation rules (I mean, by definition, uniform means all the same). It's ticky tacky, but I get it. I could understand if he was face painting a competitor's logo. But, putting on extra black ... under the helmet? What about what Ray Lewis used to do with giant triangles under his eyes, is that okay? Are they regulating the amount and location of eye black? C'mon man! |

Maxwell is going to get a lot of balls thrown his way. But to me it just limits your offense. I know Sherman is a great player , but is he Deion great? IDK. |
