8-12 yds is what you need for moving the chains, not a random number. I believe, and would be willing to look at the stats, that when teams get the ball around their 30 with 1 - 2 minutes left and timeouts remaining, most teams and great qb's/OC's will start with some intermediate - move the chain - type throws, then once you are around the 50, you can take a shot or two and still get to field goal range.

My head hurts. Our team is so hit or miss I have no clue what is happening. One drive our secondary looks like hall of famers, the next it looks like garbage. "Communication" issues is a cover up for someone f@cked up. Its time to hold people responsible.

For real though, DJax is a monster.
Reed didn't have a big impact because he was targeted once. And without even rewatching the game, I can pretty much guarantee that he was open just about evey time. Not his fault that RG didn't look his way.
I haven't rewatched the game either, but Cooley and the guys on the radio saw it differently. They said Zimmer knew Reed was RG's fallback option and they had him shadowed most of the night.

RG definitely over-targets Reed in trouble situations, so this probably added to his hesitation in the pocket.

Re: Skins-Vikes Post game good & bad

^Okay, thanks. Well, if that's true, I'm glad RG didn't force anything. I just know Reed usually gets open about 95% of the time...
Disagree. Couldn't count the number of times I've seen Brady (especially), Rogers, Brees, and Mannings huck the ball downfield in exactly these situations. That's the whole point, if there's a turnover 30 yards downfield the opponent has more ground to cover. Especially when you've got Desean Jackson catching passes, right?

LOL where does the 8-12 yard exactitude come from? Wait, if it's 13-20 you might have an argument hehe
I know I locked onto this for some reason, but in the last close game Brady played (against the Jets) this was the end of half drive:
1st and 10 at NE 26 (:55) (Shotgun) PENALTY on NYJ-J.Babin, Neutral Zone Infraction, 5 yards, enforced at NE 26 - No Play.

2nd and 5 at NE 31 (:51) (Shotgun) T.Brady pass short left to B.LaFell pushed ob at NE 36 for 5 yards (D.Walls).
1st and 10 at NE 36 (:46) (No Huddle, Shotgun) T.Brady pass deep left to R.Gronkowski to NYJ 44 for 20 yards (D.Davis; C.Pryor) [M.Wilkerson].
1st and 10 at NYJ 44 (:38) (No Huddle, Shotgun) T.Brady pass incomplete short left to R.Gronkowski [S.Richardson].

The Good:
Breeland
Morris
Tom Compton
Edit: ***Desean looked awesome again

The Bad-
Helu - he whiffed badly on at least 2 blocks - barely made contact
The Safeties and constant mix-ups

When you think about this game though, they played tough

Travel back from Dallas on Mon night, short week made even shorter by travelling out to Minny & then having the bus accident on the way.....all things considered, the deck was really stacked against them on this trip.

Hail!

Helu would be a great all around 3rd down back if he could block.

The team should bring Clinton Portis as a running backs blocking coach.
The whole Snyder Hate thing is starting to drive me up a wall. Was he on the field at the Cowboys game?

Sure, he has an opinion about what he wants. Guy paid a bazillion dollars for the team, writes a few million in paychecks every week - you know what, he's entitled.

Does he emasculate his coach in prime time? Is he wheeling an injured RGIII around on the sideline like the Atlanta owner did with Vick way back when?

I am just not convinced that Snyder's "meddling" is anymore than most owners in this league.

Gruden held Griffin out, even though he was physically ready for the Cowboys game. If Snyder wanted to meddle, THAT was the time to meddle. Gruden said "Colt starts" and Colt started.

Gruden is going to get his opportunity. So far, so good. Fire Hazlett and so much the better.

vent over.
Admittedly, I don't read every post carefully, but are people STILL saying Snyder made Griff start?

If I'm going to throw my conspiracy theory out there, I think if anyone did, Allen did.

But this all seems silly, Griff is the #1, he needs to be starting anyway. I was hoping it wouldn't be until after the bye, but it is what it is. Dude played above average for having only played ONE game all year. So eh, f it.
Honestly who hear thinks we would have won yesterday with Colt?
Thats an impossible question.
Edit/ Colt was probably feeling pretty confident after monday night. He gets the ball out quickly and understands the scheme. Of course Griff is the more athletic qb with the stronger arm etc etc.
Can you honestly say Colt would have lost the game? Im not saying one would have had a better chance than the other but I just dont think with everything going on rite now that its fair to say he would have won or lost. Who knows? Wish we could have a do over and find out. Lol.
