Re: A.J. Smith to be Redskins GM?
Do the reports that discuss Smith as a west coast guy, wanting to interact with the team remotely in more of a consulting role have any credibility?
Guys..how about all the talk as long as Snyder owns the team the Skins will never be good?? 90% of every post on redskins forums all lead back to the same issue…the OWNER..so do you really think any of this will work as long as Snyder owns the team..just asking ..
Yes....the owner has nothing to do with assembly of the team or coaching. Ownership has nothing to do with the play on the field either....the team has suffered because of Snyder's incompetent meddling with the firings of Norv and Marty but the team has made the playoffs four times since he's owned it....it's not like the Redskins have had a bunch of 2-14 seasons with Snyder as owner.....we could be a GM away from returning to the glory years... |

True... If he ever hired a real GM and let him do his job... To date, he has not done this... I hope he does, but I am not holding my breath.... |

Snyder was hands off when Marty had control of the team and personnel....Snyder also didn't meddle when Joe Gibbs was drafting the players.....when Allen and Shanahan arrived he was hands off with them running things as well....I'm all in for A.J. Smith becoming the GM.....we need someone who can look at the entire team and spot where all of the weaknesses are and get the right personnel in that can turn those weaknesses into great strengths....Smith can do that... |

snyder was NOT completely hands off when gibbs was here. he and vinny and gibbs sat around and talked about personnel moves, and later on al saunders and grilliams also got in on the act. he did give them deference though, but he was in on the conversation. he was also very hands on with getting griffin, though i can't remember any other examples during shanahan. |
Re: A.J. Smith to be Redskins GM?
I say the Redskins bring back Morocco Brown and make him the GM, he is a hot candidate out there and knows this team well.

Re: A.J. Smith to be Redskins GM?
I think Scot McCloughan would be a pretty good hire. good track record. no idea if he's looking for a GM job.

It was reported that Raheem Morris was begging the front office to draft Breeland. |

I dont care how much he drank, he still smart enough to stay away from Dan and Bruce. I think he would stay away from this circus |
Re: A.J. Smith to be Redskins GM?
I would take McCloughan to replace Campbell. Not a full GM role, that article details his drinking problem. Sounds like he flamed out.

Really like this idea. |
Re: A.J. Smith to be Redskins GM?
i know that a lot of FA decisions were made or influenced by the DS and not brown.....
but wasnt morocco brown the pro scout for us from 2008 to 2013 = had a big part in bringing in bust FAs. fat Al was signed in 2009. that was on brown's watch. he gets some blame either way from me. either he endorsed bad FA signings or he lacked the stones to tell the DS "no". either way, how is making former lackey Brown going to change the croony culture we are trying to get away from? |
Re: A.J. Smith to be Redskins GM?
Whoever signed Jason Hatcher probably wants to resign Orakpo.

As much as I respect Morocco Brown, the way to change the front office culture is to gut it and bring in newcomers who insist on a different way of doing business. |
