According to some of the DC ESPN affiliates, he's the kind of guy who tries to...."control" his drinking with only drinking a beer....now and then.. In all seriousness, that rarely works.
LOVE the move and I hope. LORD HOW I HOPe.....it works
From where he was, the occasional beer is fine. |
Re: Scot McCloughan to be new Redskins GM
Hopefully this will put an end to the quick fix nonsense we see with this team year after year.

Re: Scot McCloughan to be new Redskins GM
NFL Network makes it sound like Scot McCloughan will get free reign to run the scouting department. I really like that he has had success (good track record) and is considered by his peers to be a very good FO person. most of all he is relatively young 42 or so.
We have come a long way from a FO run by Vinny 'bag of doughnuts' Cerratto and Dan Snyder. Now Hazlett is gone. Things are starting to look up. |

Can I get a fu*k yeah? Look at us, attempting to be a real professional football team! Now I'm really looking forward to the draft. Find us some winners.
This is a very high risk move, IMO. I don't doubt his ability to do a great job as GM.
What's the risk? Can it actually get worse than it was the past 2 years? I suppose a run of futility like the Jags, Browns, Raiders, Redsk...oh wait a minute. Seriously, there's not much risk at all...but I'm still in wait and see mode. |
Re: Scot McCloughan to be new Redskins GM
I'm all in for this move. I don't see this being much of a risk at all. It's a better situation than AJ Smith, Bruce Allen, and especially Vinny Cerrato being involved with personnel.

Be afraid ... be very afraid! Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
Except this HAD to be done. There wasn't any other choice that wouldn't have incited fan riots. If you think about it, we're in uncharted territory now -- Schottenheimer, Gibbs and Shanahan all had the dual role of head coach & general manager/player-personnel decider-in-chief. Then you had Spurrier and Zorn being fed with players from Bozo the Clown. Now there's a guy from the outside with football acumen, and a resume of success at picking out talent. Dare I say it ... but, ... it's different this time. |

Said the cocaine addict. ... and, as your fellow co-dependent Redskins fan and enabler, I nod my head in agreement. See you in rehab in 2016. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk |

Snyder's past as an owner is full of examples of quick fix failures. We need to let the team building grow over time. Shut the big mouths of the impatient mob. |
Re: Scot McCloughan to be new Redskins GM
I hope this franchise doesn't drive him to drink again. I'm not totally joking
He is responsible for drafting most of the 49er roster that played in 3 straight NFC championship games, then was basically fired for too much drinking, then went to Seattle and helped them over the top then canned again for hitting the bottle too much. When with the 49ers there were a lot of pictures of him obviously drunk at team facilities. Listing to sports radio the talking heads say he is still drinking but has it under control. He sounds like someone who needs to never have another drink. He is one of the best, Snyder should hire someone to keep an eye on him to make sure he keeps the drinking under control. He lost two jobs and a marriage and went to rehab, I don't think he should drink at all. |
Re: Scot McCloughan to be new Redskins GM
Since AJ Smith is not GM, are we still getting Wade Phillips?
