Re: Jay Gruden fired
What comes to mind for me is 'The king is dead, long live the king'. Unless there is a revolution, the king will still be a virtually powerless if not well rewarded stooge. Just like our monarchy over here. Vive la republique I say!

Jay wanted this outcome, he still gets paid and will land a job somewhere else next yr. Probably in Vegas too, hookers all night! |
Re: Jay Gruden fired
.............why, why would he come to the Redskins?
Haskins... |
Re: Jay Gruden fired
Only is the Skins paid him a mega contract. And even then it doesn't seem worth it for him since he already has $.
From what I have heard, Meyer's team culture is centered on religion and God. That might work in college but I don't see that flying in a pro locker room.
It worked for a guy named Joe Gibbs.... |

Saben, Dabo Sweeny or maybe Lincoln Riley over Urban imo |

OU is a better job than the skins right now |
Re: Jay Gruden fired
While I think Jay is a good guy and he got screwed by the front office time and time again...it’s time he goes. Playing colt McCoy in meaningless games is a detriment to the team. Kevin O’Connell taking over the offense and developing Haskins is more important to the future of the franchise.
Of course Bruce leaving next is most important development that could happen.
+1 If Bruce does go anywhere, it won't be until late in the season or early in the offseason. GM moves rarely happen at the same time as the HC. KOC might be the guy next year, but I'm glad they put Callahan up for the gig. You're putting a rookie HC at a major disadvantage asking him to turn around the culture/instill his way of doing things with the team already in an 0-5 hole. Anyways this whole discussion is a moot point if they don't #firebruce. |

They might be better...maybe....but They all have jobs right now AND Haskins is Urbans guy.... so is McLaurin for that matter. |

Any job is better than the Skins, but if you want a crack at the NFL you take it. And if you aren’t currently coaching and your two offensive stars are just beginning their career on the same team that falls in the plus column. |
Re: Jay Gruden fired
One of the rumors was Lincoln Riley.

Re: Jay Gruden fired
What else would help lure a coach is draft picks upcoming....so for God sakes take whatever you can for TW now. Trade him you dumb stubborn bitch Bruce!

That's what all the college coaches say until they get a whiff of the NFL challenge, fame and money. The NFL is the pinnacle of coaching. Any true competitor wants to test his mettle at the highest level. |
