Re: Predicting the final 53
Both Moreland and Reaves could go to needy teams, but WBK, and Kunaszyk for sure will go to practice squad
|
Re: Predicting the final 53
My guess is they are keeping McTyer and Apke at depth CB. They must be really comfortable with St. Juste. The next surprise will be when St Juste starts at boundary corner
Apke special teams play is extremely solid, so I’m ok with that. He shouldn’t ever see the field during defense tho. We just have too many safeties. I don’t see how Forrest helps now over Reeves but it’s not that big a deal. Again I think it speaks to other things, mainly how comfortable they are with Collins health and rehab which is another positive. |
There's the first surprise for me...Jimmy Moreland released.
+1 Ron/JDR must have a plan if they don't need him as a backup. |
Re: Predicting the final 53
AGG waived
|
Re: Predicting the final 53
I am so rarely correct that I will mention that I suggested in the preseason thread that Moreland might be in danger. I think the fact that both McCain and Curl can play slot corner/ nickel safety it gives them lots of flexibility..... thats what Ron loves, position flex.
Surprised they couldn't get a late rounder for him though, he will be in demand. The fact that he was cut seems to prove the roster is getting better |
Re: Predicting the final 53
Peyton Barber released
|

He sucks. |
Re: Predicting the final 53
Tackle David Sharpe released…he’s solid depth and will be scooped up quick
|
Re: Predicting the final 53
Couldn't even get a late round pick for AGG? Seems odd. Some very average UDFA are being traded between other teams for 5th and sixth rounders
|
Re: Predicting the final 53
Moreland cut?!??
AGG gone?!? Reaves I always thought looked a step to slow for the nfl. We have a better team than I thought. |

I don't think many will be surprised by that, may make it back onto the practice squad but a bit of a disappointment after showing something in his rookie year |
Re: Predicting the final 53
Here's my prediction for the final 53. Not a lot of surprises, but a couple difficult decisions.
Offense - 26 QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, Taylor Heinicke, Kyle Allen RB Antonio Gibson, J.D. McKissic, Jaret Patterson, Peyton Barber WR Terry McLaurin, Dyami Brown, Antonio Gandy-Golden, Curtis Samuel, Cam Sims, Adam Humphries, DeAndre Carter TE Logan Thomas, John Bates, Sammis Reyes OL Charles Leno Jr., Cornelius Lucas, Wes Schweitzer, Ereck Flowers, Chase Roullier, Brandon Scherff, Sam Cosmi, Saahdiq Charles, Tyler Larsen Defense - 24 DE Chase Young, Montez Sweat, James Smith-Williams, Shaka Toney DT Jonathan Allen, Matt Ioannidis, Daron Payne, Tim Settle LB Jamin Davis, Cole Holcomb, Khaleke Hudson, Jon Bostic, David Mayo DB Kendall Fuller, Jimmy Moreland, Landon Collins, Kamren Curl, Bobby McCain, William Jackson III, Benjamin St-Juste, Torry McTyer, Deshazor Everett, Jeremy Reaves, Troy Apke ST - 3 Dustin Hopkins, Tress Way, Camaron Cheeseman Returning kicks/punts - DeAndre Carter, Jaret Patterson A couple notes: OL - We are finally rid of the Wes Martin experiment. Larsen wins the backup Center job. I feel like the OL is full of starting caliber players. WR - I wanted to keep Milne, but there's just no room. Carter wins the last WR spot due to his return abilities. TE - I chose Sammis over Ricky based solely on potential. It's a toss-up to me. DB - I struggled with the decision between Apke and Johnson. It is obvious to me that the coaches feel more comfortable with Apke than Johnson in the secondary. Johnson is a solid ST player, but it appears (at least in the eyes of the coaches) that Apke offers more overall. Hopefully he doesn't actually see the field much as a Corner - but you could probably say that about both of them.
With Moreland, Reaves, AGG and Barber, that's 4 guys we thought would make the team that aren't... who's making it in their place ? I had rookie Darrick Forrest in there and looks like he will... other ideas ? |
