listening to Harris today reminds me that we truly have an adult in charge.

Re: Ron Rivera fired
In Carolina Ron was just over 50% in wins and here much worse. Between both teams he is 102-103-2. I'm sure Snyder didn't help but Snyder was not in Carolina.

Re: Ron Rivera fired
In one of his last press conferences, it sounded like he was hoping to get back to coaching on the defensive side of the ball. It wouldn't surprise me if he ends up as a DC somewhere.

Ron the coach can blame Ron the GM for the lack of talent on the defensive side of the ball this year, but it was clear he looked overmatched after JDR was fired. I'm sure he can find a DC job if he wants one, if not maybe he retires. Definitely no HC jobs coming this offseason with his track record of 3 winning seasons out of 13. |
Re: Ron Rivera fired
Lotta lowlights from the Rivera era, but there were definitely some highlights too. MNF win against the 11-0 Steelers? Check.
Ron getting choked up about the death of his mom after we ended the Eagles perfect start on MNF in 2022? Check. This is why you treat people with courtesy and respect. I think this absolutely dumpster fire of a season has made people forget - for 3 years his players fought hard for Ron. Yes we lost more than we won, but we can say that about every coach who ever worked for Dan Snyder. Ron gave us enough flashes every year to get us hopeful about the direction of the team and it was only this year that everything fell apart, and even with the riverboat sinking he left us in great position for the future. So thanks for everything and good luck Ron. |
Re: Ron Rivera fired
When Ron was first hired in 2020 I paid close attention to his first few sentences......and of course he didn't accomplish anything he said he wanted to accomplish....

Agreed. As for Ron, thanks for.... being here. To quote a mantra from the fabled Light of Day Institute... PRAISE`IS LIGHT! |

Incorrect. It is a smart move. They wait to see if he gets hired as a HC, if he does, we get a pick in 2025 I believe under the NFLs minority hire/development program. If we just cut him loose, we wouldn't. We can always cut him loose later if he isn't picked up. |

He handed us one of the worst season in franchise history. Sorry, Jay Gruden was a better coach
Jim Zorn was a better coach!! :Flush: |

Re: Ron Rivera fired
I don’t hold 4-13 against Ron this season as much as I would in one of his previous seasons. Harris, all of us, and the entire Washington football universe including the ghosts of Redskins past, wanted 100% clarity this year that his tenure was over. When Sweat and Chase were dealt, Ron understood that he was a dead man walking and that the point of this season was to tee up draft position and picks for a new regime.
In this view, Ron coached this year exactly how he was supposed to and succeeded magnificently, securing the #2 pick. As the expressions go, he fell on his sword, took one for the team, and was a gentleman right to the end. Thanks, Ron, job well done. Now go enjoy your 7 million. I mean it, I really do. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/nfl-compensatory-picks-for-minority-coaches-and-executives-explained The employer-club shall be eligible to receive this Draft choice compensation if: a. The minority employee hired as a Head Coach or Primary Football Executive has been employed by the employer-club for a minimum of two full seasons; and b. The minority employee is not the Head Coach or Primary Football Executive of the employer-club and is hired into the same position with the new club. There can be no break in employment between clubs. The word and instead of or is confusing to me. EB could fall under b but doesn't meet the a. |
