Some old stuff I found:

http://www.masterplangroup.com/Robert.Johnson.htm

Scouting Report: Johnson's frame, athleticism and soft hands fit the prototypical NFL tight end mold. Football skills warrant a first round choice. Robert is a terrific athlete who looks like a man amongst boys on the field. He is big, powerful, and a dominant blocker at the line. He catches the ball very well in traffic and has outstanding ability to break tackles after the catch. Johnson possesses solid fundamentals in every facet of his game.

http://www.bigblueinteractive.com/draft/drpros03.htm

Robert Johnson is a big tight end who has the size and long arms to develop into a good blocker. Junior. Needs to get stronger in order to become a more effective in-line blocker. Needs a lot of technique work. Decent underneath receiver for his size. Uses his size and can catch. Flashes some run-after-the-catch ability.

I believe Johnson played with Cambell and Rogers at Auburn.

I think Royal earned a new nickname with that performance.

Maybe Robert "Rebound" Royal?

or how about good old..."20/80"

He realy stood out yesterday with the droped balls. Does anyone know if there is a stat for drop passes? I do not remember Royal droping alot of balls in the past. Did anyone notice how Brown caught the punts it was like I'm not going to make that mistake again.
I agree, it's time to cut Robert Royal. He can't catch or block, he's pretty much useless.
Not to totally disagree with the train of this thread, but Robert Royal was not drafted as a pass catching tight end, he was drafted to be a special teamer and a blocking end (yes, those actually exist - ever hear of Rick Walker?). Injuries and other players not being up to par with the offense (Johnson, Kozlowski) have forced the coaches to use him in areas where he is not well suited, ie. pass catching. Yesterday was not the first game where he dropped multiple passes either. He is a solid, if unspectacular blocker, which is why he is still on the team.
I would cut him though, I'm sure thay can find someone to block as well, if not better.

Haha! I was JUST noticing that yesterday. However, I bet he runs one back against St. Louis.

This doesn't sound like a blocking TE to me:
College:
At LSU, he finished his career with 59 receptions for 707 yards (12.0 avg) and seven touchdowns while starting 24 of 42 games.

His reception and yardage totals rank third in school history among tight ends while his seven scores rank second.

2001 Season: As a big, athletic tight end, Royal was often used by LSU to stretch the defense. He is a solid route runner and is considered a very effective pass catcher with an impressive burst heading upfield.
Besides, does anyone really think Spurrier was drafting a TE with blocking in mind? LOL Please.

For better or worse, according to the Post, Gibbs is sticking with Royal as the starter for next week.

Re: (Merged Thread) Robert Royal

Can't believe what Gibbs said about Royal. Why such loyalty to a player that has never really produced? He can't block and can't catch passes so why he is playing at all? It's amazing - he yanks Ramsey for turnovers, yet praises Royal, who couldn't catch a pass if the ball had sticky glue on it.

This kind of stuff just makes me sick and very discouraged about the Skins prospects for now and the future.

Many on this board preach that we should support the coaches, no matter what. Sorry, I just can't do that 100% of the time. Not when I read Gibbs praising a player of Royal's less-than-mediocre calibre.

Will you lead the parade, step up and state JUST AS EMPHATICALLY that you were summarily, completely wrong about Gibbs and company when they reach the level of success we have ALL waited for?
