Re: How will Gibbs characterize Brunell's play vs. the Eagles?
I haven't read every post in this thread, so I don't know if this has been talked about yet.... But does it make anyone else sick how much our defense talks and jumps around and showboats after every friggin half decent play?? Ummm, hello?? You're 30th outta 32 overall in total D, and you're a god damned 3-6 team!! Shut up and improve!
And seriously at this point if they don't start #17 I don't think I'm gonna watch another game this year. I can't bear to see another 3 yd pass on 3rd and 7....
emotion is hard to come by on this team. especially when you constantly lose your leaders (Pierce, Clark) and your offense constantly offers ZERO hope. |
Re: How will Gibbs characterize Brunell's play vs. the Eagles?
JC should have started against Houston - the week Brunell broke the record, and perhaps our season!
I was of the opinion if Brunell had a good game against Houston, Gibbs was going to permit one or two more very bad performances by Brunell, and he has. I'd bet we would be a .500 team right now if Campbell suits up against Houston.
I agree 100%! |
Re: Brunell only looks at Moss
Un-fuckin-believable!
|
Re: Brunell only looks at Moss
how many yards Moss get this game? i WISH Brunell looked at Moss first every play. besides the screen.
|
It's Not Just Brunell
This team:
--Can't tackle --Can't defend the pass --Can't rush the passer --Can't throw the ball to an open receiver --Can't open up holes for the run --Can't stop commiting stupid penalties And can't stop giving away draft picks for overpaid-underachieving free agents. Where do the ownership and coaches even BEGIN to fix what's wrong? |
Re: Brunell only looks at Moss
True, but maybe teams wouldn't be blitzing with total reckless abandon if they thought Brunell was capable of hurting them. Brunell is officially cooked.
Without question. If that was Peyton Manning out there today (and thats just an example), he would have ripped that defnese to shreds. They were sending somtimes 2-3 extra guys without even thinking about it. Not ONCE did I see Brunell make a good hot read today and get it away to open coverage. I'm sure its not 100% of him, but enough of it is that he needs to get the hell off this feild. |
Re: It's Not Just Brunell
well you could BEGIN....by training Brunell's replacement with the first team. and then replace him. and then you could look at all the other threads saying what you're saying.

Re: It's Not Just Brunell
It's going to be a major overhaul. We are going to have to take two or three steps back before we can take one step forward.

Re: How will Gibbs characterize Brunell's play vs. the Eagles?
They've played like this all year. Chris S. and Jon J. are having their worst season.
Honestly, and I may be in the minority here....but I think Chris Samuels is taking way too much heat. I dont think he's played all that bad. I thought we left him out to dry against Indianapolis where he really looked bad, but otherwise I think he has played pretty well. |

I'm sorry. And your unique contribution to team improvement insight is...? |

i started with it. i totally wouldn't put it past Gibbs to stay with Brunell with next week, if so, i IMPLORE him to start giving Campbell first team practice regularly at the very least. if not just all the snaps on gameday. i would fire Jerry Gray in the offseason, the DB position has gone nothing but down in every category. I'd put Rocky in and have him learn also, maybe experiment with a 3-4 with Carter as an LB, maybe even Arch. who knows, anything. my point is, and has always been, that most of these problems can't be fixed now. at least the QB position can. |

Mark can't even go deep in bed" - Mrs Brunell
If at best you can say Mark swallows after he sucks. I had an Ex-wife thatdid the same. EDIT:taht to that |
Re: The Brunell Thread (Merge)
The defense was bad, but Brunell gave us absolutely NO chance to win. He led us to 3 points and gave the Eagles 7 with his terrible INT for a touchdown. Gibbs' decision to start Brunell this season is the No. 1 reason we're moving backward and will finish with a losing record.

Actually, Brunell gave us -4 points (FG-INT=-4). |

True. He hurt us more than helped. Sadly, the prettiest pass of the day came from ARE, even though it was knocked away. |
Re: The Brunell Thread (Merge)
I said this a couple weeks ago, but I will say it again. Brunell doesn't give us the best chance to win now. He isn't good. He stares down one receiver the entire play, then he either throws it to them or throws it away. He is basically a rookie out there. I get excited when he actually throws down the middle, steps up in the pocket, looks off a defender, pump fakes, or throws farther than 10 yards. You shouldn't have to worry about those things with a 15 year veteran. He just isn't a good quarterback anymore. His career is over.
Campbell needs to be put in now. That stuff I just said doesn't even really matter anymore because we have no chance at making the playoffs anyway unless we somehow win 7 in a row. There is absolutely no reason at all to leave Brunell in. Gibbs is an idiot if he does. edit: If Brunell gave us the best chance to win, we wouldn't be 3-6. That is what we were when Gibbs benched him in '04. He didn't give us the best chance then, and he doesn't now either. |
Re: The Brunell Thread (Merge)
It will be an interesting week around Redskins Park. I hope Gibbs doesn't praise Brunell's performance again because it would be totally hollow. Brunell played a poor ball today, bottom line. Sadly enough, if we continue to play like we have been and finish 6-10 or 5-11, Gibbs Act 2 could have a similar winning (losing) percentage as Spurrier.

Re: The Brunell Thread (Merge)
Seriously guys, I am really pissed off. I know he is our best chance of making the playoffs, and I would stick with Brunell but he is playing awful.
He only looks at Moss. It is really bad, if you look at Brunell, he only looks at MOss, and throws it to him, even in triple coverage. I made a post earlier this week, saying I dont want Moss to play, bc this way it forces him to mix it up. If Moss is in, he only looks at him, therefore increasing our chance of losing. Looks like I was right. I am beyond pissed at our team, we dont even have a fucking pulse.
PLAYOFFS? he sucks. no future. dead skill set. he is horrible. We suck as a team. |

Did anyone see the brunell press conference after the game? It looked like he was about to cry.

I hope that means, he knows he lost his job.

What about the pass to BL? |
Re: Brunell only looks at Moss
I don't think where he looks is the problem, he has hit Cooley and Lloyd. We have no downfield attack, and Saunders appears to be giving up on even trying to make something happen downfield with this super conservative playcalling.
His playcalling is the way it is because he knows Brunell cannot throw the ball acurately downfield on a consistent basis. He therefore stays with what he believes Brunell can do, which is limited. Much different than the offense we saw his team run in KC. |

I totally agree. Remember how Saunders was brought in because he was going to establish a vertical attack? Saunders said he was committed to establishing the deep threat, we got the receivers to make it happen, but Brunell can't/won't throw deep (save the very rare attempt). |
