Re: P90x

I have went through P90X once and I am on my second time doing it. It definitely works! The biggest thing I stress when doing P90X is to FOLLOW THE NUTRITION GUIDE! You don't have to follow down to a 'T' but you DO need to try to stick within the calorie in take and the types of foods that P90X suggests during each phase. I lost 20 pounds pretty quickly doing it, and gained muscle! I also developed ab muscles that I have NEVER had or at least haven't had since I played high school football (which has been many many years ago!) If you want to get in shape within just three months, P90X will DEFINITELY do it for ya! It was money well spent in my opinion!
power 90, i'm taking my rest day tomorrow, and i really need it. there is no way i could handle p90x after watching some of the videos, i honestly dont' think i could ever be that motivated. i'm real surprised at how fast the workouts go by, it's really not too bad. you would think that that jackass tony would know his own routines he still gets me everytime when he f's up the cardio workout, can't skip the side kicks. i definitley need to bring my ipod for the next workout though can't take much more of that music and i'm getting most of it down pat.
Yeah the workouts do fly by. The music is definitely pretty bad, I turn it off and crank my own tunes.

Same for me just a multi-vitamin. Protein shake after the sculpt workout too.

I'm looking forward to bumping up to the P90X when I'm done with the Power 90, but this thing is kicking my butt as it is. I can only imagine what the X is like.

the power yoga is no joke the first time i tried the runner to the cresent to the warrior i thought i strained every muscle in my body

the ab's aren't too bad but the last routine of the full body crunch is a killer, i feel great today that day off was much needed

overall i'm really happy with the workout it's the right amount of time and it's not as crazy as some of the stuff you do in the "x"

i might have to get a shake of some kind when i got to gnc tomorrow i feel like i'm burning way more calories than i'm taking in, i wish i could follow the nutritionplan, but i just try to stay low fat, i really need to just cut out the alcohol for a week or two.....doubtful :drink

You should try to track your calories, you don't want to go too low or you won't have the energy you need.

Cutting out alcohol is tough man, I've weened myself over to light beer. The tough part for me is always staying away from the snacks once I've had a few. I'm getting there though, it always seems easier to stay good with the diet once the warmer weather rolls around.

Yeah I didn't know there was just a Power 90 until after I had purchased P90X. I am interested in trying out that Insanity workout system beachbody.com has out now. It's about the same price as P90X, but it looks quite intense, and it's supposed to be a 60 day program. Might be a good program to do after the 90 day P90X program has ended...just to mix things up a bit! The key is to keep your body guessing!

There's also another program after the Power 90 called the Power 90 Master Series. I might actually try that after I wrap up the Power 90.

Insanity looks, well, insane.

GNC is a place to go to spend three times more than you need to. They mark everything up horribly, probably because of their policy where they take returns of opened, nearly empty products if you claim they didn't work after using it all.

Yeah when i was buying everything i needed for p90x i went to a lot of body building type forums and everyone rips on GNC. I went to Costco and bought tons of high protien food, engery bars, and shakes. I also bought some cretine and "Jac3d" which is susposed to give me engery online.

Someone gave me a Magic Bullet the other day and i got EAS Protien Shake stuff from Costco which is susposed to be pretty good. Ive been told to hold off on starting p90x because i got a lot of broken bones in my face, but i think im gonna try my first lesson this weekend and see how it goes. Maybe just do the stretching stuff a few times to start off.

I have one of these (and a blender) for protein shakes. Works great:

I'm holding off on P90X from a busted arm and ensuing surgery with plate and screws, but I have been working with some thicker resistance bands and getting things back in shape. Hopefully later in the year I can try the program.

GNC has great products, but they are so overpriced it's almost comical. Good play going to Costco. Also, Vitamin Shoppe is a good place. They have the same selection as GNC and are definitely cheaper.

This is another good place for supplements, but the name makes you feel like you're buying some serious roids, lol:

I know green tea is crazy good for you, and I've been drinking it pretty frequently since I gave up soda and energy drinks almost 5 months ago. The actual tea from tea bags is no problem for me, and I've never had any sensitivity to caffeine nor have I ever had any heart related issues either (my last cholesterol test was 165 and BP is normal).

I bought green tea pills a few years ago, and within a day or two of starting them, at times it would feel like my heart was beating so hard (not fast, but hard), I almost took myself to the hospital. I mean, each beat felt like a really hard "thump" in my chest. It was scary. The only thing different in my diet/routine after the issue started was the pills. So I stopped taking them, and shortly after the symptoms subsided.

Anyway, few months back I tried the pills again just because the benefits of green tea are so well documented and I figured my first experience may have been a fluke. Sure enough, the exact same symptoms arose. Obviously I immediately stopped taking them, and yet again the symptoms stopped. Strange, especially considering I can drink the tea daily with no issue. Huh.

Those green tea pills can have a lot of caffeine in them so you have to watch out. They have lower caffeine versions that are much better.

That's odd since actual green tea that you drink is usually caffeine free.

That's basically it. I don't really have caffeine sensitivity as far as most teas and coffees go, but the pills get me all crazy. Best bet is to just get the Green Tea Extract capsules or drops.

I absolutely despised ephedra, stuff drove me nuts.. I know that it'll subside after a week or two but I just can't stand feeling like that for even an hour

yeah the green tea pills say to take two in the morning and two with lunch, i took one in the morning and will probably take the second at lunch, it's not too bad in a smaller dose. and i can handle the caffine way better than the f-ing gitters and insane heartbeat you get from ephedra, a few years ago i was all about it i would do in in cycles month on 2 weeks off, i bought a s ton when it became illegal, i still have probably 3 or 4 unopened bottles that i most likely won't ever use.

I was walking down the street and got jumped for absolutely no reason. I didn’t say anything, look at anyone, touch anyone, or get in anyones way. I guess maybe the same mentality behind the flash mobs where behind this act? Definitely the worst part about it was the randomness and not being able to put any reason behind what happened. I don’t really want to go into details involving where or what exactly happened because fortunately the individuals were caught and there is a criminal proceeding taking place. Basically I shattered my cheek, crushed my eye socket, and broke my nose and temple. I always thought I had really strong bones, and I had never been knocked out even though Ive been in plenty of situations that would warrant breaking something or losing consciousness. Im doing a lot better, but my jaw doesn’t close properly which is getting really frustrating. When the surgeon told me I can start exercising in a month, I asked him about p90x – he said that may be too eXtreme, which I take as a pretty strong endorsement of p90x being legit.

So right before all this happened I bought tons of food from costco. I cant really chew anything right now and its damn hard opening your freezer or having a drawer full of beef jerky or protein bars and not be able to eat anything. Pretty much ive only eaten mash potatoes, mac and cheese, and ice cream. Ive lost about 15 pounds so far. But I wasn’t doing p90x to lose weight. Im a decently thin guy I just wanted to get in "high school" shape and have a base to build a little muscle. So now I havent worked out in a month, been on a low protein diet, and lost weight which I was hoping to use to build muscle. Not what I had planned but I think im going to officially start in April nonetheless.
