When I said I've seen enough of Colt and cut him I meant it. Horrible no arch passes.

I tend to agree w/ this. I'd take Daniels over Colt easy decision at this point. I think Daniels might be a Drew Brees type...both dudes play fearless.

Colt has made some poor decisions the last couple of games but I still think he can play in this league and play well. Zorn actually had some good things to say about him after the game tonight. Chase should get another chance next week and we'll see how it goes. If he plays well I think it will be a tougher decision to make but if not, put him on the PS.

Agreed. The mistakes he made can be sumed up to lack of experience like JZ said.

interesting how colt went most of training camp saying that no one could even pick him off, until like the 12th practice..now he gets picked off repeatedly...I feel bad for him, I hope he makes the team or the practice squad..but unless chase does really bad this week, or colt does amazing, or both....I'm afraid my favorite non starting redskin will be gone .....

Even with the int that was took back for a TD...his ability and bounce back with a td strike i think sealed the deal on the 3.

Re: Collins locks up the #2 job, Colt and Chase fighting for the #3

I don't think that 1 TD pass redeemed him very much at all. He took some bad sacks including the one that knocked us back to a long FG attempt. I just don't think he's been playing very smart all preseason.

You're

I have a feeling if we do cut Colt he will end up in a place like Seattle, SF, Den or NE. There were rumors that the Pats were interested in him and im sure BB wasnt too impressed with his backup QB's the other night. SF is in dire need at this point with Hill and Smith not doing well. I think the kid can play well with some experience under his belt, if he doesnt get it with us im sure he will elsewhere. We'll see how it turns out.

I think the guy in New England that was impressed with him is actually the head coach in Denver now

:) Thats why i slid Denver in there but NE's Backup QB's really stunk it up and we know BB wont put up with it. Brady went down last night, if they had to come in and go for real you could stick a fork in em. BB has to be looking to upgrade thats all im sayin.

I'd bet they still hold onto Colt over Chase even after last night, unless Chase comes out and tears it up against the Jags.

Colt will be ok when he learns that its ok to take the 3. you cant always get the td in the redzone,if its not there you have to let it go and live to fight another day. But i understand where he came from they always went for the 6. I dont think Coach June Jones knows how to spell Field Goal.

that reminds me of college overtime. doesn't the first team just have to go for the TD every time, and if they do take a fg, then the 2nd team has to, if they want to win.

As for Colt he needs to learn pretty quickly that int's in the RedZone does not make for a long NFL career.

Pop's just not a big fan of Jason Campbell. Hard to believe, I know, with Jason being 17 for 35 and 257 yards with no TDs this preseason.

For the record, I'm not as convinced that Jason Campbell absolutely isn't the answer for us at quarterback. Personally, I'd say I'm about 60% convinced that Campbell will be somewhere else in 2010. I could be wrong.

We'll see who's right in about five months.

P.S. -- let's not forget that none other than Dan Snyder and Vinny Cerrato weren't convinced either when they tried to get Mark Sanchez and Jay Cutler...

I don't think anyone would argue that Campbell is a franchise QB (not yet at least), but he's certainly not as awful as Pops implied.

Doesn't he get credit for the TD he ran in?

Re: Collins locks up the #2 job, Colt and Chase fighting for the #3

I am just happy we have some decent QBs to contend with. I am following the Bears Broncos Sunday night game and neither team has any real QB depth. IF their starters go down they are freaking doomed. The backups don't look too bad for either team, but Collins and both our young QBs look better.

I'd have taken almost any deal NE offered. This team isnt going anywhere and IMO, TC doesnt fit in the long term plans for the Skins. I'd have let TC go and let CB & CD develop with the Skins.

The question was asked, "Why not trade Collins to N.E. and pick up some draft picks and keep Colt AND Chase"? That was what brought up Wiesman's response.

On the other hand, if the Patriots wanted him, that means they see value there which would mean we should probably hang on to him.

That's an organization that seems to have an eye for talent.

NE would have given us garbage. like a conditional 7th round pick or something. If JC goes down, id hate to have Colt as our backup. We'd be looking at a losing season IMO.

That's what I'm saying, trade TC and keep Colt & Chase. This isnt a playoff team with or without Collins so get something for him and keep the young QBs.

GusFrerotte 09-01-2009 08:15 PM

Re: Collins locks up the #2 job, Colt and Chase fighting for the #3

Hard to say. I want to keep both young studs, but yeah if JC went down Collins was the man 2 seasons ago and got us into the playoffs with a 5-0 starter record. He might be old, but he got the job done. THeSkins are counting on the loser of the #3 QB battle to be put on the practice squad and not being picked up. I think their gamble has a better than 50-50 chance of panning out.

Re: Collins locks up the #2 job, Colt and Chase fighting for the #3

I always have been a Colt fan, he made some mistakes in his life and then bounced back and lead Hawaii to a BCS game. He will most likely be a career backup and it hurts me to say that. He will be number 3 this year and move in to the 2nd string positions as early as next. IF Jason Campbell starts of rocky look for some "We want Colt" chants.

KingRaloIV 09-01-2009 09:49 PM

Re: Collins locks up the #2 job, Colt and Chase fighting for the #3

We should trade Collins for draft pick to team that needs vetern QB. JC is our Vet! resign JC to long term contract and keep both young boys for the future and to back up JC! JC can hold it down long term while we develop the young talented QB's! its not like COllins is a great back up, he is just average at best and we got to young average QB's that Zorn hand picked so he can develop them. If collins is such a good number two he should be worth something in a trade. We need to focus more on our youth not old guys who have never been a number one on any team.
