You don't need sour mix in a good margarita.

All you need is good tequila, triple sec or Cointreau, and fresh lime juice
True.

This is a fun topic to debate but in the end just drink up and have fun.

But... keep in mind if you are drinking something frozen that comes with a straw, umbrella, and fruit, someone in the room is having a laugh at your expense. ;)
a few years back my brother and i were at a skins game at fed ex. the skins were playing the giants, anyhow, there were these two giants fans (a man and a woman) they were drinking wine. my brother and i (and every other skins fan in the area) joked and laughed at those two the entire game, all because they were drinking wine at a football game.

maybe theres a time and a place for a man to drink wine (when he alone with his wife)

Wine at a football game is definitely a sin.

Thus completes the ultimate argument for why wine is not manly.

If you can't drink it at one of the manliest sporting events, then it's not manly. You also cannot drink wine at a George St. Pierre fight.

Drinking wine in and of itself is not unmanly, however there's a time and place for everything. You are correct there.

I actually had wine at a Monday Night Raw performance. My buddy went to get beer and they were out and he didn't want to get in another line. I drank it.

"wine"cooler
it has "wine" in it's name for crying out loud. that makes it a form of wine.:)

Re: The 10 Commandments For Drinking Like A Man

Most wine coolers aren't even made from actual wine anymore.

It's not wine. It's malt liquor.

Barley wine isn't wine either, despite the name.

I used to drink margaritas frozen, but that was before I knew better. Nothing like a great margarita on the rocks. 2 or 3 and you might lose your legs when you get up from the table at the tex-mex place.

Not a big martini drinker, but I'm old school. Gin belongs in a martini.

I'm starting to get into bourbon more and more. Usually stick with what I know (Beam, Maker's). Never really tried scotch, but it's something I want to get into.

And while I'll catch some slag for it, I'm a rum drinker. Me and the Captain go way back, but his cousin Sailor Jerry slides in from time to time as it as more bite.

I love beer, so it's my go-to drink of choice. A nod to TMC's 90 Minute IPA mention. Dogfish Head has some classics. If you get a chance, try their 120 Minute IPA. I got one of those beer a day calendars and have been pinning up beers I want to try on my cube wall at work. Got to take one down from over the weekend, Old Specked Hen. An English ale that actually tasted better (to me at least) as it warmed a bit from the fridge. My poolside drink of choice is a light beer, and while Corona isn't anything to write home about, Landshark is better.

As far as wine goes, is it manly? Who's to say? However, I don't drink wine unless it's red, and the drier the better.

You know what makes a man's drink? A man who will stand behind his drink, no matter what he's drinking.

Re: The 10 Commandments For Drinking Like A Man

Good post, BD.

I love many varieties of red wine, scotch, and of course beer. I love a good IPA, and a nice 4 pack of Dogfish Head 90 will certainly give me a great buzz. Loose Cannon and Rogue Dead Guy are also favorites.

I'm not a gin or rum drinker at all. Gin tastes like pine needles and rum is way too sweet for me. Single malt scotches are a my #1 drink of choice.

love gin

beefeater, yum.. gin needs to be very dry and crisp

my stepdad is a tanqueray drinker, not a fan of that stuff at all

I honeymooned there, amazing place. Everyone is so friendly. You really won't find a not-fun thing to do on the entire island.

Great to hear. One of closest friends honeymooned there and pretty much said the same thing. Including you, I've actual heard that from about half a dozen people now. No one has had a bad thing to say about the place, so I'm pretty happy with our choice. We almost did Turks & Caicos, but I worked out a sweeter deal with Aruba- significantly cheaper despite better accommodations.

Well, chances are any bar you'd go to to watch a sporting event won't have a glass of red wine worth drinking anyway. Wine has it's place- paired with great food, a quiet night with your woman, reading in your favorite chair, at a cocktail party, etc. I LOVE all kinds of red wine, but I wouldn't be caught dead drinking it while tailgating or at a sports bar.

And all of you on here mocking wine drinkers while advocating frozen drinks in the same breath... well, I laugh.

that's what i'm saying. for instance, in a MANcave one might find a tapped keg. a fridge full of beer, beer mugs, shot glasses and bottles of whiskey, rum etc.... what you will not find is wine glasses and bottles of wine.
