They would probably need an injury for that to happen.

I like our WR corps. Youth, Speed and veterans in various forms.

I still want to see Fred Davis split out wide...
So let's see, the Redskins All-Time Offseason Fan Favorite Team:

Colt Brennan
Marcus Mason
Marko Mitchell
Anthony Mix (Well he was a fan favorite at one point)

Also I remember this kid named Anthony Dixon (I think), who was released last year and people acted like we had released Reggie White.
Fan favorites. lol. Didn't Mix provide the most catch's and yrds 3 yrs ago during preseason? Wasn't Mason the only RB to provide any type of running yrds... and yes it was preseason. For the lack of production during preseason against 3rd stringers it's no wonder fans had to resort to Mix and Mason.

I guess Parker must have shown enough to warrant letting go of Alridge. Can't say the same for Austin cause they haven't had a camp yet after the draft in order to evaluate him. Expect more cuts. Last I heard the Skins can only bring 80 players to camp and we were at 88. We now have 3 more to cut. I kinda got the feeling thats why we didn't bring in a bunch of UDFA's.

Why? We have 8 Wrs still on the roster still. The guy didn't survive the minicamp, which is a rarity for a guy coming back or even a rookie. Remember this isn't Cerrato and Zorn, this is Allen and Shanahan. I know we all pulled for the younger guys that didn't make it, but they obviously were released because those in charge didn't think they were going to contribute. I was pissed last preseason when Chase lost out to Colt, but it happens and life goes on. You hope the guys get picked up elsewhere, but it might be a long shot for some.

And lets also add current redskin Lorenzo Alexander who was famous for making that tackle against the titans with his helmet off, busting his chin open.

Taylor J. never even did much in preseason. I remember the old ball coach coming off the field at half of a preseason game & he said annoyingly "we were trying to get the ball to Taylor Jacobs."

Ifeanyi made the team & started for a few years at SS, can't include him.

McMullen, Ohalete? wasn't one of them injured each yr during preseason and had to sit out the whole season twice? When that happened I was done with them. Kinda how I feel about Kelly. He really needs to step up this yr and be a part of this team.

As far a Mitchell goes.... I was psyched about how he showed up at camp a couple weeks ago. He looked like he bulked up and had decent muscle. I understand the reasoning behind cutting Mitchell and especially since he was a late rounder or walk on. Easy come easy go. But atleast he was healthy and had size for the Red Zone. I think I would have kept him over Kelly. I know it's not the popular choice to go cutting 2nd round draft picks but he produced as much as Mitchell has. I'd have coached up Mitchell and had a healthy Red Zone threat vs. wondering if Kelly will be healthy enough or even produce.

Thats the way i feel. I would have liked to see both of them dukeing it out knowing that only one is going to make the team this year, tie goes to Kelly because of the “investment” in him. At a minimum I feel like we should of at least kept him around as insurance in case Kelly’s knee flared up during preseason.

Marko had a better rookie campaign then Kelly did, and i would bet that his sophomore season would have been better too. Depending on what happens to Kelly’s knee over the next couple seasons will prove if cutting Marko was a good decision or not. Plus I don’t see Kelly ever contributing to teams at all, where at least Marko can step in if need be, and he did a decent job during the second half of last year on coverage (albeit he’s no Anthony Mix). Re: Redskins Release 5

What surprises me about the cut of mitchell is the dudes still on the roster, Galloway & Wade, don't play spec. teams. Wade maybe can return punts, so that's to his benefit, but Galloway sho ain't playing teams. Marko could try to play teams, he's young enough to contribute if he added some bulk.

I would guess that Shanny didn't like his approach in mini-camp & figured he'd cut him loose early. I just hope that the dude from murray state or some other unknown can make a preseason splash, play spec. teams & make the cut.

In fairness, Harris was an established corner before he got here. We cut him while he still had some gas left in the tank but that's not the same as cutting a young before giving him a chance to develop.

As to Clark, even if not a WR, he is one I wish we had found a way to keep.

I hope you were being as sarcastically funny as I was trying to be.

Lloyd- never was. The Bears got more out of him though then us.
ARE- 30mill down the drain. Could have gotten same production for less.
Jacobs- Where's he at now?
McCants- Same...Where's he at now?
Coles- Did better with the Jets. Both times.
Patten- Only shined in N.E.
Thrash- Someone who played far better then he should have.

I would count Coles and Thrash as people who actually did better after leaving Washington. Coles did better prior and after. Thrash looked awsome in Philli but again it was WCO... short passes. I think Gibbs used him incorrectly. Maybe you could argue ARE also. I never saw anything special that he did with the Steelers so I couldn't figure out why we picked him up only to get marginal production for the cost.

Redskins Receivers In Search Of Consistency

One would think with the comments about Galloway, Wade, and R.Williams they would have kept Mitchell as upside.
Galloway enjoyed a late-career revival in his mid-30s as he gained over 1,000 yards receiving in three straight seasons from 2005-2007. In 2008, however, his production fell off a cliff as he caught just 13 passes for 138 yards; he had only seven receptions last year. It would be unusual for a receiver who relies on speed to have a second career rebound. Galloway has a shot of sticking as the fifth receiver, but he faces an uphill battle.

Bobby Wade was signed the same night as Galloway. Wade is the lesser known of the two, but he probably has a better shot at making the roster. He turned 29 in February, and he has 143 receptions in the past three years, more than any other wide receiver on the roster with the exception of Moss. He has a career punt return average of 8.5 yards, although he doesn’t have a return of over 20 yards since breaking one for 73 yards in 2005. That experience, and his recent accomplishments as a pass catcher give him an edge.

Roydell Williams is another returning player from training camp 2009. The Redskins released him with an injury settlement (finger injury) last September. The Titans, who drafted him out of Tulane in the fourth round in 2005, released him at the end of camp in 2008. Williams will be a long shot to make it after having spent the last two years out of football. At age 29, it could be his last chance.

Saints claim P.J. Hill off waivers
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on May 4, 2010 6:01 PM ET
Dropped Monday by Washington, running back P.J. Hill landed in familiar digs.

The Saints claimed Hill off waivers, bringing back the undrafted free agent to a second tour of duty with the team. Hill had 26 rushes for 128 yards for the Saints in the preseason last year.

New Orleans is somewhat thin at running back, so Hill could stick, perhaps on the practice squad.

Marko Mitchell claimed by Lions
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on May 4, 2010 8:17 PM ET
Redskins fans that still want to cheer on Marko Mitchell can turn their attention to Detroit.

The Lions claimed Mitchell off waivers, according to Rick Maese of the Washington Post.

Mitchell, a seventh-round pick by the Redskin in 2009, couldn't have picked a better team if he wants to stick in the NFL. Detroit remains thin at wide receiver.
Marko Mitchell signs with Detroit Lions
Wide receiver Marko Mitchell wasn't unemployed long. Released Monday by the Redskins, Mitchell signed today with the Detroit Lions.

Mitchell was a fan favorite in Washington who played big in the preseason last year but had only four catches in the regular season. He was one of five Redskins who got the pink slip Monday.

Running back P.J. Hill also found a new employer. He was claimed off waivers and signed today with the New Orleans Saints.

For those like me who were wondering where we stood count wise:
The moves left the team with 83 players on the roster. Since the six draft picks do not count against the 80-player limit, the Redskins will be able to sign up to three more players. A number of players will be attending this week’s minicamp on a tryout basis so there is room to bring some of them on board.
This from a pretty good CSN article on the release of these players:
