I can almost picture that, with burgundy numbers with white outline or white numbers with burgundy outline and add the spear helmet.
or, use a gold shirt with burgundy pants with our current helmet or reverse the colors on the "R" helmet. Make it burgundy with a gold "R".
|

I'm not sure about melding the gold with silver but I do like the gold color. It beats the yellow we use now. |
Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
That's an ugly women's "fashion" jersey. :D
Although, I bet CP would wear it. |

Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
I've been a Redskins fan since the late 70s and love our uniforms, but I wish we would update our helmet design. Maybe get away from the actual Indian head and go with something mor modern. Not a flying Elvis or anything like that, but maybe a modern spear design or some other proud, brave, couragous look. I know some teams never change their logo (Cowboys, Steelers, Colts) but I think a new Redskins logo would be cool.
|
Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
I really like our logo and current look. Adding more gold back in will be fine but I really think it's a classic-looking design that shouldn't be modernized.
Most teams' looks get ruined with attempts at modernization, which I evidenced when we see them in throwbacks and wish they'd go back. |

Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
The spear helmets always reminds of Spur@@@ he ruined any chance of me ever wanting to see them again.
The script R and our current Logo are great the Colors can be switched up its all good to me. I do Like the pic with Thomas above thats a good look. |

You might be able to get away with it if you change the helmet to the yellow retro R but I still don't think it really works. |
Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
How is that mixing modern and retro? It's just a simple recolor of the pants.

I thought you were using the pants from the 70's uniform. |
Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
Nah, they were BRIGHT yellow.
These are gold. |
Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
I like the all whites! Those are my favorite.. I wouldn't mind a gold jersey as our 3rd option.
|
Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
The packers throwbacks are horrible! And Arizona shouldn't go with black .

I didn't make it. I found/borrowed it on Terl's blog. :D

Hate the albino look. |
Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
I like the all white just like I like all burgundy, but they could add more actual gold to the uni... maybe gold striping on the sides. In any event I just want the team to use the color gold you find in a crayola box vs. yellow.

I love those lol and the all Burgundy.. Idk about those pants they look mustard yellow.. I think we would kinda look like SF |
Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
That picture looks great. Very professional looking uniform. Only way it could look more professional is with a tie and wingtips
|
Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
Great uni Buster. Two thumbs up.

No, SF would look like us. :) Although not really. With all respect (it's just opinion), I detest the all whites. White is not an intimidating color. The all whites say, "Please smack us around." And in the all burgundy, we just look like a bunch of burgundy turds. Our colors are burgundy and gold. We should highlight both of those colors IMO. |
Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
I was trying to think of the teams that have kept their current uniforms the longest without changing, but not counting occasional retro looks. We've had our design since 1979 I believe. But the teams I can think of are:
Colts Bears Raiders Packers Steelers I'm not sure how long the Cowboys have had their current design. Sometime around the 70s they changed to the aqua-colored pants when they wear white jerseys. When they're in the blue jerseys, the pants are silver. I'm not sure of any other team that does that, btw. Every other team has had either minor tweaks or complete changes sometime in the 1990s. |

I watched parts of their first preseason game, and their helmet was completely different, horseshoe in the back not on the side. Couldn't tell if the uniforms were different as well. |
Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
Those are just throwback alternates the Colts are wearing, not a permanent change
|

The Colts probably least of all though. Watching the film today the Bills have a nice uni. I could see us using the burgundy where their blue is and using gold where they put red. Then use white as they did; stripes on the pant leg and numbers. Then we could so something similar with the whites... all white with burgundy where the Bills used red and highlight every thing with gold striping and numbers. Just to make colors pop I'd use metal flake paint on the helmet. Metal flake burgundy and metal flake gold. It's still the orginial colors but it would make the colors really stand out nice. Edit: Here is the Bills Blue uni: http://www2.pictures.gi.zimbio.com/New+York+Jets+v+Buffalo+Bills+hspxj69vWpsl.jpg I would use burgundy where their blue is and gold where they have red and use white to highlight. Here is the Bills white uni: http://www2.pictures.gi.zimbio.com/Buffalo+Bills+v+Denver+Broncos+5iDNqxf7-Gdl.jpg I'd replace the red stripe with burgundy and the blue with gold. |

1st uni: I could see burgundy where blue is and white where they have red and use gold for the numbers. 2nd uni: I could see (again) burgundy where the blue is and gold where they have red. 3rd uni: I could see gold where they have blue and burgundy where they have white. I would use white as highlights. |
Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
No way, that Broncos set was unique when it came out but now it's a standard with college and high school teams.
I'd love to see the current design and helmet in this color scheme, gold pants included: |
Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
Basically this mockup I did, but maybe darken the burgundy slightly, use shiny gold, and striped socks:

The first picture is not bad Buster. It is more of the Gold I'm interested in. I could see a flip of the colors also, a gold shirt and burgundy pants.

Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
I have always liked the new Denver uni's and have wanted us to implement a similar design with ours.

Gotta have stripes on the pants...college teams wear pants without stripes, not NFL teams. When the Ravens or Saints were the solid black pants, they look like ballet leotards. |
Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
First gold pants now gold uni's? I think as far as our jerseys are concerned gold is a condiment. You can't make a whole meal with a big pile of mustard and one or two fries.
