What I don't understand, and as someone else mentioned, why couldn't Vick just spin this another way: Have the party at Disneyland or Applebees? Sounds corny, but that's a part of the PR game.

For the record, I'm not hating on Vick or wishing him any ill, but he's just stupid.
There are some elements about this latest Vick saga that just dosen't make sense to me.

One would think there would be bad blood between Vick and Quanis Phillips as a result of the dog fighting incident which all but ruined Vick's football career and cost him more than twenty months in federal prison. Unless that bad blood has received a transfusion (which would have required contact or communication of some sort) the question in my mind is, why would Phillips want to be around a man he virtually snitched on and caused so much agony? I can see no reason why Phillips would feel the need to show up at a Vick party where he might not be well received unless he felt reasonably assured there would be no repercussion. Or, did he go there with the intention of settling an old score with Vick that maybe we don't know about?

Thats a good question. If MV tried to keep away from this guy, and the guy is still trying to get back in MV's good graces and MV doesn't want anything to do w/ him maybe the guy is asking for trouble. You sell your friend out to save your own self and expect to be welcomed back dont expect a warm reception.

Now shooting him is going over board. There is no reason for that whoever shot should have just punched him like a man.

There is one other element that warrant's mentioning, why won't Phillips reveal to the authorities who shot him? I'm sure he has a good idea.

He probably got shot because he was probably labeled as a snitch by everyone he hung out with after reports got released that he gave info to the feds about Vick's dogfighting operation. Snitches get stitches and that's what he got. Idk why he was still trying to go there in the first place, dude had to know he wouldn't be welcomed with open arms.
Exactly! Can't believe he threw a party at a night club. Have the party at your house, not a night club. It looks like he's still hanging around with his hood rat friends from the tidewater area. If I were him I wouldn't even go back there. Ever.
Not even. Vick can't have parties, period. Not at a club, not at home, not at a Chucky Cheese. Whether he's involved or not, he needs to keep it to a few people over for dinner and Netflix. Or at least that's how I would've lived my life after getting the second chance of a lifetime.

On Sunday, Robert Littal of BlackSportsOnline.com reported that Eagles quarterback Mike Vick decided to follow up the "All White" commemoration of his 30th birthday with an "All White" celebration of the 234th birthday of the entity that put him behind bars for dogfighting -- the United States of America.

Via an update to his initial post, Littal reports that Marcus Vick was at the party.

Via a phone call I received while honoring America by catching at least a dozen fish swimming in one of her rivers, Mike Vick did not attend the party.

Per a league source, Mike Vick went to a barbecue in the Philadelphia area.

Our guess? Marcus Vick hatched the idea for a series of "All White" parties, and Mike agreed, initially. Given the aftermath of Mike Vick's birthday party, he bailed. But it apparently was too late to pull the plug on the party.

Which proves two things: (1) he has learned not to host parties while on probation; and (2) his decision to host a birthday party open to members of the public (including convicted felons) was one of the worst he had made since his dog yard in Virginia was discovered by authorities.

Phillips refuses to cooperate with authorities and reveal who the shooter was. Will be interesting to see where this case goes from here.

Snitches probably don't have very healthy lives in prison, so I am guessing Phillips probably learned a lesson or two about cooperating.
That's nice to hear, but being on the other side I'll just say that when we try to tell those stories people don't seem to hear/see/read it nearly as much as many claim they would.

That said, don't miss...http://tvbythenumbers.com/2010/06/21/sportscenter-%E2%80%98my-wish%E2%80%99-series-returns-for-fifth-year-july-18-22/54793
I've seen those and it's a very nice gesture on the athletes part. But to be honest it's kind of cheesy.

Re: Man shot after confrontation with Vick at Michael Vick's 30th birthday party

I would be surprised if Philly doesn't cut the guy. The owner came out and said that he had to do "a lot of soul searching" when they decided to sign him. What that really means is he really didn't want the guy in the first place. So now all this nonsense happens. I mean the guy just can't leave his past behind. He just can't grow up and make smart decisions for himself. I can't count how many b-day parties I've been to and no one has ever gotten shot at. Simply ridiculous.

If I were Vick I would just turn my back on my little bro. At least until his career is over. Trouble just follows him where ever he goes.

NY vs. VA issue.

Much stricter gun laws.

Usually, VA guns don't go off until they cross the bridge into DC.

Also something else to consider. There may be good reason that shooter shot that guy. Maybe it was in defense.

Despite denials, reports that Eagles could cut Vick continue

Posted by Michael David Smith on July 11, 2010 10:44 AM ET
Last weekend a report that the Eagles would "strongly consider" releasing backup quarterback Michael Vick was met with a strong denial from the Eagles.

But reports that Vick could be on the way out in Philadelphia are continuing.

The latest report comes from Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, who reported on Twitter Sunday morning that a high-ranking source inside the Eagles said the option of cutting Vick is "absolutely" on the table.

Robinson also reported that some Eagles executives are upset about Vick's continued ties to his dog fighting co-defendant Quanis Phillips, who was shot outside Vick's birthday party last month.

The terms of Vick's probation bar him from having contact with Phillips, and according to Robinson, the team thinks Vick is continuing to choose to spend time with Phillips anyway. Although some Vick supporters have suggested that Phillips crashed Vick's birthday party, Robinson reports that those claims "don't appear to be holding a lot of water," and that Vick at the very least isn't making a great effort to stay away from Phillips.

Frankly, it would be dumb of the Eagles not to at least consider the possibility that they won't have Vick on their roster this season, and dumb not to have a Plan B for their No. 2 quarterback. The Eagles will apparently continue to claim publicly that cutting Vick is not an option, but then again, they also claimed publicly that their starting quarterback this season would be Donovan McNabb.

^^ From the Article

"Clark said the Eagles backup QB is being denied traveling privileges and has already missed two scheduled appearances, according to his crisis manager Judy Smith."

Not personal assistant, not agent, not events manager - no, a crisis manager.

I am personally torn. Do I want to be so rich and famous that I can afford a "crisis manager"? Or, does the necessity of having a "crisis manager" negate all the benefits of being rich and famous?
