I'd say their parents probably choose that life style and did nothing to better them self. I'm just glade that everyone that has talent from the inner city does not do so by selling death, drugs, and bitches. If thats the best you think he can do then I question his talent to begin with. I also have said I really don't blame them I blame MTV and other that promoted them and those life styles. |

That is no different from someone who says that they might like nudity in a painting but to depict sodomy is taking it too far.
If you don't think kids are trying to copy these guys then you need to take the blinders off. Just watch any cops show or shows about gangs. I know gangs are not new here but having it main stream and making it cool is. |

You are going to live whatever lifestyle you are going to live regardless of the music that you listen to or what you watch. Glamorization of it is only going to appeal to those that found it appealing in the first place. |

Exactly. It's not like Joey white kid in the burbs is going to turn gangsta after listening to The Chronic. Blaming music for society's ills is just ridiculous. |

Regardless of Tupac or Biggie, can we all agree that what's being put out these days is pretty awful? It's no Rakim. I mean really, Drake?! Ugh...Guru is rolling over in his grave.

I love Drake. He's gotta be one of the better popular lyricists out there now. Give Jimmy a break man! Brother can't walk! |

I just met a girl that loves ICP. LOVES them. And I wanna tell her how much I hate them, but I don't have the heart. lol I did like 2 or 3 songs by them when I was like 14.. But at that age you don't know any better. They had some Gathering of the Juggalos and for some reason Tila Tequila (I believe it was her) was there, and they ended up throwing rocks and shit and all sorts of things at her. Not saying she didn't deserve it. Just sayin. |

It's like he'll sway back and forth between slowly saying words and kind of singing. I hate to say this, but Ke$ha and Justin Bieber (Tom Brady diss) have better flow than most of the so-called rappers on the radio nowadays. Have any of you guys listened to this song called "Toot It and Boot It"? Both Pac and Biggie are rolling over in their graves. |

are you talking about guru from gangstarr who came up with super intelligent lines like lemonade is a popular drink and it still is i get more props for my stunts than bruce willis like baggy jeans im crazy hip hop check one two and you dont stop guru was good with step in the arena and hard to earn, but come on man, dj premieres beats were the only reason that gangstarr was who they were. sorry, i used to love gangstarr but guru was so cheesy imo. just like common was good with Can i borrow a dollar and resurection then he went cheesy too. at least with common you could see that his music evolved as he matured and that was the reason for his decline from being a true hip hop mainstay. his artistic motivations changed as his life changed. guru? i dont even know what that short bama is doing, probably trying to put out jazzmatazz 13. |

Though Rakim's verses were a...mazing. Who knows what guys like Drake are even saying? Guru passed away earlier this year, hence the rolling over in his grave comment |

yeah sorry SS, i just got this mental hangup to go on a rant whenever someone says guru was good lyrically. its a problem i have identified, when i will be able to let it go i just dont know.
dang i didnt even know he passed away. im real surprised i didnt hear that or i probably heard it then forgot it. |

Guru passed away earlier this year, hence the rolling over in his grave comment
I do. I can rap some of his songs from heart. Dedicated fan! Well okay, so I just like him because he's sexy. But it counts! I don't think it's really hard to tell what Drake's rapping about, if you listen to the "Thank me Later" CD, there's really decent stuff on there... "Fireworks" and "Unforgettable" are 2 of my favs... Especially since he sampled the "At Your Best" cover by Aaliyah, originally by the Isley Brothers for the "Unforgettable" track. I have a much harder time with Weezy's lyrics, and I love Weezy cause he has some killer rhymes but some of his lines are just ridiculous. "Turn you into a vegetable like you lying in soup." Come on Weezy... |
Re: Tupac or Biggie

Re: Tupac or Biggie
@Chico: Have you seen the parody of that video? That's got some of the most insanely stupid, yet quotable lines I've heard in a while.
"****ing magnets, how do they work?" Lolllllllllllllll, I'd be suprised if they got a 6th grade education. @DRave: Don't bother telling her how much they suck, and/or how mentally challenged they are. I've tried that route, and all it does is turn Clown Posse Nation against you. Either she will eventually see it for herself, or she'll turn into one of them. When I see stories like the one about that "Juggalette" who was pregnant, had the baby, and the baby died at birth because her mother didn't know drinking, smoking lots of weed and taking assloads of prescription drugs was bad for the fetus, and how the mother blamed it on the doctors, well it tells me everything I need to know about them. I do gotta give props to ICP though, if it wasn't for them I wouldn't be able to enjoy ICP parodies because they wouldn't exist. So bless them for that, even if they are turning a large part of my fellow young adults into idiots with no future. As for Drake/Lil' Wayne, I do enjoy them but I don't think lyrically they match up at all with Biggie and Pac. And even though they are defined as "rappers", when I hear songs where they are speaking almost normally, well it's hard to call them rappers after that. I'm diggin the music but the lyrics just don't compare. For example I love that song "Every Girl" by Young Money but when the entire song is talking about wanting to screw every girl in the world, it's not even comparible to songs like Brenda's Got a Baby. |

Why cant they tell their story? Certainly growing up in white suburbia I never was exposed to whats in their music...sure its glorified in a sense, but its real. Just like how people like gangster movies or TV ie the Godfather, the Sopranos...its the samething. I just dont like the arguement people are driven to violence cause of the media. People dont like it, change the channel on the TV or radio. Certainly if more people believed your arguement was valid, it wouldnt have seen the absolute massive growth its experienced in the 20 years...its made a shit ton of money for big media businesses as well. People speak with their wallet. |

You answered your own question. The reason its gone on is because of the money and when people have spoke against it they got called racists. I'm not foolish enough to think that ever kid that listen to gangster rap will join a gang but the vulnerable children without guidance are at greater risk. They have the freedom to produce this crap but I don't have to agree that its good for our kids. I'm not blind I can see what is going on wth our youth. |
