Interesting that the Pope who was a key figure in bringing down the greatest threat to freedom in his time is beatified on the day that the man who symbolized the next great threat to freedom is killed. |

Definitely not a coincidence. |

Good to see they are still reporting rumors as confirmed. |
re: Bin Laden Killed
kudos to the Navy Seals, and to Pres Obama, for arranging and pulling this off without Bin Laden escaping or avoiding our forces. Interesting note, one thing that alerted US intel was the fact that this Million dollar mansion didn't have Telephone, or internet services.

Hell yeah. You know our boys came in hot and heavy and took that mansion down. Props to our special forces beasts. A huge tip of the hat to the stud who put the double tap in Bin Laden's forehead. Apparently it was a "surgical reign by a small team that was on the ground for no more than 45 minutes." Lethal. |

apparently one of the only compounds to burn all their trash rather than use a service also. can't wait for the movie, should be a good one |
re: Bin Laden Killed
Massive thank you to all the troops and everyone in the intelligence community for all the hard work they've put in over the years to bring this asshole down. Osama may represent one small piece of the terrorism puzzle, but it's a great thing he's dead.
On a side note the dumbasses that were on tv hyping this up like the war on terrorism is over need to get the cameras taken off them asap. We don't need to give the rest of the world more reasons to hate us or want to retaliate against us. |

Got him in a good old fashioned American Gun fight. And by the looks of the death photo, they wiped the grin off his face before they did the deed. I would give those troops my first born male if they wanted him.

Other groups, such as Jema Islamiyya, Abu Sayyaf, and Lashkar e-Taiba, remain in play. The war on terror has seen an important victory but not the finish line. |
re: Bin Laden Killed
a yahoo political article made a good point - the way this op was carried out should send shivers down the backs of any other terrorists in hiding. It may have taken several years, but did anyone here think the US was capable any more of the patience and the type of cloak of silence needed to carry out this operation? Every terrorist now has to double back, and re-check their methods of communications and worry just a bit more.
|
re: Bin Laden Killed
So that only took 10 years and god only knows how much money. Mission accomplished! (for real this time of course). Glad they finally got him but I can't help but feel it's a bit anti-climatic.

i just literally said the exact same thing to my wife. while the fight against terrorism will never be over this is a major victory for us. the terrorist have been the ones working the fear angle, killing innocent people and then hiding. now we have the fear angle to use on them, they are and never will be safe. this is a great day for america as a country and so many people can finally have the closure they have been looking for for a long time now. i saw on the news this morning a man from who woodbridge got in his car last night with a picture of his son and the flag he received when he was kia. he drove in the middle of the night to the white house so his son could be there while people were celebrating. just one more thank you to all those who are serving the country right now and those who have served, what a great day for the good ol' us of a |

Mooby is right. Idiots thinking the war on terror is over. Not hardly. The war on terror will be like the war on drugs. It's something you'll never win. Our best advice is to change our foreign policy. Note that surrounding countries in middle east have no problem with terrorism.
Also, what the **** is this?? Osama bin Laden's body buried at sea - CBS News Are you shitting me? Really? So now there is no ****ing proof whatsoever that the man is really dead...lol You know how to can divert the American's attention from the ****ed up politics and shitty budget they want to pass? re: Bin Laden Killed
I know US citizens tend to dislike things that take a long time, but again, many of our countries staunchest enemies believe that we don't have the long term will power to search out those who do the country harm. Therefore, the fact that we continued through 10 years of unglamorous hunt and search missions says something to our enemies that hasn't been said in a long long time.
As for the cost, ugh, but I wonder how that specific tally could ever be calculated and separated from the typical intelligence budgets. It's not like we would have said, oh well since we aren't hunting Bin Laden, I guess we don't need to keep tabs on Al-Qaeda courier movements any more. |

As long as they have photos and some sort of video evidence, I'm fine with them burying the guy wherever. I think the American public need to see this asshat dead and not just hear about it. |

Take major wanted man, kill in black ops, and bury body at sea. I hope that they got absolute clear and distinct proof recorded and maintained. (no lost minutes of tape ala NASA moon landing) |
re: Bin Laden Killed
So I just heard that the helicopter carry the SEALS malfunctioned and had to make an emergency landing inside the compound. Not knowing if they had a way out or not, they de-boarded anyway and carried out the mission to kill OBL. Then the back-up helo arrived and they boarded with his body and tons of intel they took from the compound.
Also, the president didn't want to bomb the compound with missle strikes because he wanted proof that OBL was dead and not some mangled, unidentifiable body. This all sounds like a screenplay. |
re: Bin Laden Killed
Of course there will be pics. Does anyone really think they would kill this guy and not take death photos??

And they buried him at sea as not make his grave site a shrine or pilgrimage of sorts. |

Truthfully, I wouldn't put anything past our government. Does "they have weapons of mass destruction" ring a bell? I hear we are still looking for them, as is OJ for his wife's real killer. |

Al Qaeda would be quick to claim that Bin Laden is still alive if that was the case. |

Rascal...finally!!

re: Bin Laden Killed
The problem with pics is that the conspiracy theorists will inevitably claim they are doctored. Most sane people will accept them on face value, and move on. It just will be another US conspiracy quirk. Already one fake death photo is circulating...
