Lets go Caps!

Re: Washington Capitals 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
Huge win today! I just hope the offense can start peppering Thomas a little more, the Caps have got to find a way to take these next two home games.

Re: Washington Capitals 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
Bruins are a tough play when they are on the road as well. I don't think it gets any easier from here, but I am glad to see them play the way they've played the past two games. It's amazing to watch them play a defensive battle with a team like the Bruins.

Re: Washington Capitals 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
Holtby is the truth.
With that said I now kind of understand why McPhee wanted a guy like Hunter. The playoffs are just an entirely different animal. Virtually no room to run around and tight checking, shot blocking, and defense are essential. At the end of the season I was kind of hoping Hunter was simply let go after the playoffs. Now I'm wondering if he shouldn't stick around. Either way in regards to playoff hockey he definitely has the team playing the right way. On a side note I personally love how they refuse to be intimidated by the Bruins. |
I love the Caps, but watching the Flyers and Pens beat the shit out of each other has been entertaining as hell to watch. 133 PIMs handed out in today's game, absolutely crazy to watch. Felt like every shift there was cheap shots handed out by both sides.

That was an amazing game. I mean it's always fun seeing Pittsburgh loose, even if it's to the Flyers. Funniest moment was Crosby fighting Giroux. Giroux's trying to do everything he can not to punch him because of the post concussion syndrome and Crosby waits for the refs to get in between to take a couple of cheap shots. Actually better then that was when Schenn was doing his best Marchand-Sedin incident on Crosby in part because they were done handling Crosby with kid gloves. Fast forward to 2:23 of the first video. Re: Washington Capitals 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
Huge win by the Caps tonight, we would've been in a serious hole if we went down 3-1. I hope they keep playing like this for the rest of the series, we're down to a best-of-3 now.
|
Re: Washington Capitals 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
Holy crap! This series is gonna make me go gray! What a huge win, but they have got to close it out tomorrow. The VC is gonna be nuts!
I'm loving the Troy Brouwer signing right now; he definitely brings the playoff grit the Caps have lacked the last few years. |
Re: Washington Capitals 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
That was a huge goal he scored in the last couple minutes there. Hard not to like that signing right about now though. I really hope we'll be prepared for the Bruins' intensity tomorrow, I would much rather win the series at home than have to go into Boston for a series deciding game.

Re: Washington Capitals 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
Good to see the Caps battle back. Umm..is there a goalie playing better than Holtby right now? I don' think so. Great match.

Re: Washington Capitals 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
It's times like right now that I sort of hate being a DC sports fan. I've become such a pessimist that I feel like the Caps already lost - I really hope they prove me wrong tonight.

I'm worried myself. The Caps are notorious for choking in the early rounds. I watched them lose the last game in OT and it was like all the spirit went out of me. Its rough being a fan of a DC team. |
Re: Washington Capitals 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
THANK YOU JOEL MOTHA F'IN WARD FOR SHUTTING ME UP!!! I love it!!!
|
Congrats caps fans! Hopeful you can knock off the flyers. I will definitely be cheering caps here on out.

Re: Washington Capitals 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
Such a great win. So good to see that Tim Thomas won't be..well, visiting the White House next year.

Re: Washington Capitals 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
I mean..... I was soooo nervous throughout the game. We were all just screaming at Hamrlick, Shultz, Green, etc the entire game. Then.... as joel ward placed that puck in the back of the net-
Total euphoria. Everyone jumped around, screamed at the top of our lungs, and really felt playoff victory in it's truest sweetest form. Great win. Love the team- Sky is the limit. O's, Nats, Wiz, RG3, and caps. Things are looking pretty good. |

I lol'd hard. Very much lol'd
holtby is amazing and is the main reason we made it through. that was the closest series in nhl history with 4 games going to ot, 1 game going to double ot, and all games being decided by 1 goal. what a hell of a series and a hell of an effort, while holtby is the obvious player of the series, i think jay beagle is a damn close runner up. that guy came hard every game and was a huge factor on the boards digging pucks out. i hope they raise their game even more and take out whoever the next opponent might end up being. LET'S GO CAPS!!!!!!!!!!! |
Re: Washington Capitals 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
I can't stand Boston teams and fans of any sport. Great to see them go down!

Re: Washington Capitals 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
last game we were unlucky with the posts, this game the rangers were unlucky with the posts, though ovy hit the post as well. excellent, excellent win tonight. going back to dc tied at 1-1. loving the production of the 4th line

Re: Washington Capitals 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
I'd like to see us hang 8 on someone every now and then, but i'll take the win. ovi had a great 4 second shot.

I lol'd hard. Very much lol'd
Holtby had 0 ****s to give lol. Awesome. Last night's game was great. Really nice to see the Caps steal at least one on the road from the Rangers. Now we just need to take care of business on our end and we'll be good. I don't see any reason we can't beat the Rangers this series. |

I don't see any reason we can't beat the Rangers this series.
Only reason I see is that we aren't generating enough offense. With Hunter seemingly hell-bent on keeping Ovi off the ice with a lead we're giving up a good chance at putting away games. If this team actually ends up getting deeper into the playoffs it will be on the back of one-goal wins. We get a lead and Hunter's first move is to go into "protect at all costs" mode. That works in the 3rd but in the 1st and 2nd we need to be putting some pressure on the Rangers. |

Got to play to win in hockey. |
Re: Washington Capitals 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
if ovi knew how to play defense and didn't look lost, he'd spend less time on the bench. they showed WHY he wasn't in the game during some spots in the bruins series - that video wasn't very flattering.

Wow. Tough triple OT loss. Watched the entire game.

Same here. I got tired just watching it, I don't think I'll ever feel what the players felt like after that game. It's very disappointing to play almost 6 periods and come away with nothing to show for it. |

Ok big game in NY. We gotta pull this one out. Put the pressure on NY. Plus we play best away from home. So this is a biggie.
Lets go CAPS! |

So miserable. |

So miserable.
I agree, I hate to be a pessimist but it doesn't look good from here. They have to stay focused and take it one game at a time. Win the next one and its 3-3. If they go into the next game still feeling depressed about this one... its over. Tough loss. |
Re: Washington Capitals 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
I would also like to say NBC's commentator team sucks a fat one. Sweet Jesus I wish we had Joe B. and Locker in the booth.

So miserable.
Every game is a new shot at victory. This team has played one nail niter after another, and even pulled off a win after that triple OT home loss. We damn sure can force game 7. But to be 6 effin seconds away and lose like that... Sweet jeebus that hurt. |
